North's P.O.V
I remained perfectly still as Nymeria held my hand tightly and guided me through this never-ending forest. A few miles back I was able to walk a bit better, my body I guess adapted to the pain. My mind felt clouded, have you ever felt that?
Everything feels fuzzy and strange like my brain has gone into low-power mode or something like it was done thinking for the day. I was barely able to focus on what Nymeria was telling me, I knew she was trying to comfort me and I had no problem understanding that it was her, but I was still on edge and my mind was scattered.
I heard everything she said, but the only thing that triggered a response was my mate's name and the idea of going home. After that, I decided to remain silent, I was still trying to process the concept of going home, for real.
I glanced behind me and sighed a little in relief, Nymeria wasn't lying to me and this wasn't a trick, I'm going home. "We're almost there North" Nymeria spoke in a gentle tone I don't recall her ever using before now. She gave me a soft smile, "Don't be afraid", she's been saying that a lot.
I guess she wants me to be as calm as possible when we get back to the packhouse, I'm not necessarily afraid, I'm just unsure if this is a dream or not.
Nymeria then stopped and turned around to face me, her right hand held mine firmly and she then spoke in a serious tone, "I don't know what happened back there-" a dangerous glint then flashed through her eyes, "-And I don't know what they did to you, but I promise-" her dark eyes met mine.
"-We'll make them pay for this North" she vowed in a serious tone, I knew by 'we' she meant the whole pack and its allies. She looked at me for a moment, I guess she's expecting an answer or something, but all I could manage was a small nod, showing I understood her words. Her dark frown then went back to a soft smile and she gave my hand a gentle squeeze.
She then began to guide me through this woods, and after a minute she began to speak, "We're about three miles out-" she began, then she looked up at the sky and smiled a little, "We should get there by nightfall, or even sooner" she spoke proudly and smiled back at me.
"We'll get you checked out and patched up, then you can rest" she promised, and once again something triggered words, "S-Sleep?" the word sounded so foreign to me, I haven't slept in days if not weeks at the least. She seemed shocked that I responded to something so normal, but my mind is messed up from all this stress and rush of emotions, plus the blood loss and emotional trauma.
"Yes North, you can sleep when we get you home, ok?" once again all I could manage was a simple nod. She smiled and nodded back, then we continued walking.
We didn't speak again after that, and I liked it that way. I was afraid that she would ask questions that I didn't want to answer, questions I wasn't ready to answer just yet.
Soon we reached an opening with a mansion in the center, surrounded by cars. It was now dark out and the only light was coming from the house. I heard thousands of voices from inside, which made me nervous for some reason, I guess I was still shaken up from the fight with Ajax and those guards.
Nymeria then stopped and looked over at me with uncertainty in her eyes, she then cleared her throat and spoke, "Many people are in that house North, will you be ok to go inside?" she asked which I thought was considerate. I then turned and glanced at the house, I took a deep breath and nodded slowly.
She nodded back hesitantly, "If it becomes too much for you, just tell me" she spoke in a soft tone, I nodded again. She then began once again to guide me towards the house, her grip on my hand tightened slightly when we reached the door, "Are you sure?" she asked once again gripping the door nob.
I nodded hesitantly as the fear began to slowly creep back in, but I just focused on the fact that I would be able to rest soon, and this torment would finally be over. Then she slowly opened the door and the talking soon stopped.
"Nymeria? what's going on?" one voice spoke that I recognized as Connor's, "We didn't expect you back for days-" that voice that belonged to Miah was cut short when she dragged me inside with her. Horrified gasps were heard all around the room and after it was completely silent, I kept my head down and remained still.
"N-North, is that you?" Miah's voice rang in my ears, she then began to walk towards me, I was about to panic, seeing Ajax's wolf charging at me instead. Then Nymeria came to my rescue, "Stop!" she spoke standing in front of me, "He's extremely unstable" she explained in a rushed tone.
"W-Why is h-he covered in b-blood?" I knew that voice to be Wyatts, and he sounded terrified, "I don't know, he's only said about three words to me since I found him" Nymeria explained, I then felt Miah's eyes on me as she spoke again, "What happened to you?" she spoke in a quiet whisper.
"Approach him carefully Miah" Nymeria warned, and her steps slowed and I felt a hand on my shoulder and I jumped slightly and looked up and met Miah's dark brown eyes that were filled with tears, she then placed a hand on my cheek and more tears fell down her face.
"What happened little wolf?" she asked softly I didn't respond, I just kept looking at her with a blank expression. She sobbed a little when I just stared at her, I didn't know what to say or how to respond, I was just confused, tired, angry, and sad.
"How did you find him?" Klaus's voice rang in my ears, his voice sounded broken and sad, "I was looking around in the southern forests to see if I could find something to help us track him or the people who took him-" I whined a little when she said that, and that only seemed to bring more sadness into the room.
But the witch continued,
"I don't know why or how, but he got out on his own and judging by the looks of it, it wasn't easy."
You have no idea.
