The Beginning of the End

Chapter 26

~Love sometimes comes like a dream
And leaves like a nightmare~

Lincoln

She wraps her arms tightly around my waist, her breathing is shallow and rapid but breathed as quite as possible. She is trembling, absolutely terrified, she claws her fingers into my back, not hard enough for it to hurt but it still shows how scared she is. Another groan comes from a few meters away from us, she pulls herself even closer to me if that is even possible, we are practically sharing the same space. Another groan this time closer, she whimpers in my ear.

"Lee, we are going to die, aren't we," she whispers so quietly it's almost like she only blew air in my ear.

"I'm not going to let that happen," I whisper back, putting on a brave face to mask how terrified I am as well.

I have never been this close to the Zombies before, not to mention the strange person who is also here with us. Suddenly the area is illuminated in a golden light and a very familiar figure is standing bathed in the light. I look around the space we are in. Four concrete walls, a concrete roof, concrete floor with one door and a ladder the leads up to the roof. I know where we are, the outpost building a few hundred meters from base. The light starts to die down, I get up quickly and switch on the light switch, just as the golden glow disappears the white-blue lights above us turn on. No Z's are in the room so the must be outside, but that's not the only thing I notice. Nova is standing in the middle of the room looking utterly lost and I finally see the mysterious voice that spoke to us.

A single man sat in the corner, wearing a white suite/scrubs, facing the wall. The man holds a revolver, and places it to his skull.

"Mole man!" I yell, Terah jumps up beside me but Nova passes out in the middle of the room and Terah runs quickly over to her.

"Shush child, I offer information, even though it is too late now. Your run-down hole of a base is about to be attacked by a hundred men and creatures, and everyone will be slaughtered, even the children, we have finished our experiments and now are in the progress of creating our Weapon," he says rushed.

"Why, how did you take us here, how did you find our base!?" I yell.

"The rebels aren't the only people with spies, I simply dragged you both out here for a chance to escape, I took pity on both of you," he say spinning around, Dr. Redwood.

"You bastard!" I scream.

"Your rebel family has ten minutes... Starting now," he says before blowing his brains out.

Terah screams and moaning comes from outside. Nova opens her eyes on the sound of the gun, what a horrible sight to witness as you are waking up. I don't even bother to ask how she got here, I just ran over to Dr. Redwoods body took the gun off him, told the girls to get up and follow me. I swing open the door, three Z's are outside which I shoot all in the neck, killing them. We all run like hell to the base, hoping, praying desperately that we will get there in time to warn them so they can get out, or fight. I just don't want to arrive to a massacre...

Annalise

Tate, runs out into the hallway freaking out.

"What's wrong?" I ask innocently cocking my head to the side.

"Where's Terah and freckles- I mean Lincoln?" He shouts and starts banging on the door which I assume is Terah's.

"Truth be told I haven't seen them all day, not even at dinner, Lee-Lee never misses dinner," I say giggling, I brush a red streaked strand of hair out of my eyes, when I did Nova's hair I also did mine.
