I could see the windows of the school, high above the ground and indicating that there are classrooms on the top floor. Skimming the windows, one of them was shattered, letting me know that I can make my way inside. "There." I pointed.

Donnie looked up. "You sure?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I got this." I say, quickly shifting into one of the Pacific North West's small birds; a little brown and grey sparrow. I flew up to the window and perched on the glass of the window that did no harm to my small-boned feet. It appears that this classroom I found myself in taught current world problems. Well, the apocalypse is a current world problem... how amusing.

The student desks are flipped over and pushed to either side of the room. And the teacher's name is on his desk. "Mr. Ganey." I chirped. "Hm."

I couldn't imagine what the students experienced on that tragic day... Obviously, many didn't make it. I leap off the glass and land on the floor to change back my shape. It's so quiet in here. So sad and empty without anyone being in here.

I have never been to a public school before in my whole life. And this is my first time. I had so many questions about what it was like to be a student in a building like this-- coming to school 5 days a week and facing so much homework and stress. I'm actually quite thankful that I was homeschooled but at the same time, I wish I experienced a public school for just one day.

The next thing I do is go to the classroom door and see that it is unlocked from the inside. I enter the hallway to find a girl's bathroom right across from this room. On my right is a railing that overlooked the staircase which is by the side door. That's where my group is waiting for me.

I follow the hallway where the tiles are dyed crimson and small accents of gold to represent the school colors. When I glance ahead, I see a long hallway full of classrooms but I had to go back down the stairs to let my group in. I hurried down and pushed the glass door open to let the mutants turtles in with a few other mutants. "Nice work," Leo comments, walking through.

Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo each had a mutant next to them. Raph took the gym on the right, Donnie, to the left in the A-wing of the school, Mikey goes behind the stairs, and Leo went upstairs. I was so curious to see this place. I wanted to know what kind of education kids got back in the day before the world ended.

"This is so cool," I said to myself. I transformed into a bird again just to get to my locations quicker throughout the school. I flew up the stairs and above Leo's head and immediately came into the opening of the school. There were folded up tables, old school papers, and abandoned backpacks everywhere.

Grace, one of our mutant friends explains the school because it turns out she actually went to public school and kept her abilities a secret. "Well, the school certainly has a lot of space."

"What is this big opening?" I chirped, perching on the railing as she and Leo leaned over it.

"It's called the Commons. It's basically where students and staff gather for school events or kids to have lunch." She replied, reminiscing inside her head.

I nodded, interested in the place. I then saw Mikey and another mutant down below. "It's clear down here," Mikey said from the Commons.

"Same here." Donnie met up with Mikey because the A-wing met with the Commons. All hallways met in the middle of the school.

I flew down to the first floor and shift back to myself. "This place is huge." I grinned, getting a feel of the space and freedom of a new home... Well, I think it's great for a new place to live. We just needed to see what Leo thought about it.
