Leo had arrived back at Anzen just in time to see that the loads were about to wrap up. He guides the wagon horse named Sugar onto the school's property where people accompanied him to take the supplies from the truck.
Sugar, the buckskin horse with a black mane nickered quietly once she came to a stop. She chewed on her bit and snorted the dust from her large nostrils. Leonardo got out from the car wagon and came up to her side, trailing his hand on her body until he reached her soft jaw. "Good girl, Sugar." He says, turning to the young man named Austin. "Thank you, Austin. The escort is appreciated."
"Anytime, Leo." Austin says. "I'll catch a ride with Sammy after the haul is finished." He waved a temporary farewell to Leo.
Sammy. That name belongs to a female here in Spokane and unfortunately, it gave Leo chills because it reminded him of Sam. That man is better off dead than to wander the earth and terrorize the living. Leonardo sighed, looking at one of his guards, and says, "Nixon, can you take the horse and wagon to the soccer field, please?"
A young man with curly chocolate brown hair and glasses wore a blue plaid sweater and torn jeans looks at his leader. "Sure, Leo. What's going on?" He noticed Leo's tone was a bit urgent and worried.
"I need to find my brothers and give them the update about today. I'll have a meeting about it later." Leo informed Nixon, walking toward the front doors with his leather journal. While the leader retreats into community building, Nixon did his job by taking Sugar and the wagon to the back of the school.
Nixon is a 22-year-old young man who has the ability to read minds... when he feels it's necessary. His stamina is limited because it can take up his energy and cause him headaches if he does it too much. But he brought Sugar and the wagon to the temporary horse pen and is greeted by one of the mares.
Kharoma, the talking black mare trots up. "How are you, Nixon?" She asked him, her ears swiveling to listen to the many sounds surrounding the school. She would catch the birds chirping, the wing howling, and the chatters of Anzians.
Nixon, or Neen as everyone calls him replied to Khar when he released Sugar into the pen. "Pretty good. These days have been tough."
"How so?" The black mare asked.
Neen shrugged at her. "It's a lot of people and there's a lot to do around here."
"Hm," Kharoma mumbled, hearing the other horses gallop the pen and buck in excitement. She paid no attention to them. "I'd give anything to help you out if I had two legs again."
"Two legs again?" Nixon looks at the talking horse, focusing on her brain and digging deep into her memories. He did his best to not strain himself. Then, Nixon saw what Kharoma meant when his mind caught sight of a girl being tortured in a lab and transformed into a four-legged animal. It wasn't easy at all for her. "Oh..." He says, blinking once at her.
"Oh." Kharoma chuckled. "It's okay, Neen."
"I'm sorry that happened to you." Nixon says.
"Don't worry about it." Kharoma told him, reassuring him that she is okay. "It isn't so bad."
Nixon felt awful for Khar because she wasn't given a choice in the past. He breathed out, remembering he needed to get back to the front to keep guard. "Look, I'll catch you later." He says. "If there's anything--"
"Thank you, Nixon." The black horse says before he could finish. "Go on and get back to guarding." She gestured with her head.
Nixon turned away from Kharoma and the other horses. "No prob." He walks back to the front where the other guards waited for him.
