Leo is sitting on top of the school's roof right now, taking in the wonderful day that has barely begun and all he sees is a blue sky, fluffy white clouds, birds zooming by, or hearing the faint chatter on the ground. He is taken aback as he sat up here, remembering that he loved sitting on a roof and was surrounded by his brothers, and on rare occasions, Splinter joined them. If he had to be honest with someone, Leo would admit he missed April's company when she was a friendly human being back in the day.
April O'Neil was the person who assisted the Brothers in keeping Splinter alive while they were living in a lab, so she was in his thoughts almost constantly. Because April was willing to put Leo and his family to death a few months ago, it is now difficult to look past who she was at that time. It's a really eerie topic to consider nowadays.
And Splinter, too. What teenager wouldn't mourn their father as much as Leo does? The Brothers and that old rat shared a special connection, and without him, it felt like the world was closing in on them every day. The elder of the four brothers imagined himself to be a suffocating victim since he saw himself as a young child trapped in a cyclone with no idea how to protect his family. Leo needed to acknowledge his own contribution to getting his troops this far, though.
Now that he is here, breathing well and watching over his people, he heard the ladder at the edge of the roof behind him and sees his younger brother, Mikey coming up to see him. "Hey, man." Mikey greeted, hoisting himself onto the roof and walking up to his older brother. "What are you doin' up here?"
"Hey, Mikey." Leo replied, seeing that his sibling is sitting next to him on the roof, dangling his feet over the edge. "I just wanted to get some fresh air."
"Looks like you're doing more than getting some air. What's going on? Is it about Criss?" Mikey asked.
Leonardo is currently experiencing numbness anytime his ex-girlfriend is brought up. He is grateful that Criss is wanting to be his friend even though they do not communicate frequently like they used to. Right now, Leo's main concern is his son, Jaxson. This leader thinks it's more crucial to protect this neighborhood and its people than to become involved in a romance he doesn't have much time for. For sure, he will always adore Criss, but sometimes relationships end for no apparent reason.
The oldest brother nods hesitantly. "Sure, I guess. I'll be fine, though, Mikey."
Michelangelo found it irritating that his brother found it difficult to control his emotions around Criss. Since he and Shado are still together, Mikey isn't really familiar with breakups, but he is aware of how painful they can be. "Okay... If there is anything you need, I'm here for you."
"Thank you." Leo smiled.
Mikey heard Leo's radio start to play as he was ready to rise up from the roof. "Someone contacting you?"
Leo grabbed the radio from his hip and turned the volume up. "This is Leo, over."
"Hey, Leo. It's Donnie."
Leonardo sighed in relief. "Hey, are you and Osa okay?" His tone is softer.
"Yeah, we'll be returning soon. But I wanted to radio you to let you know that we had discovered a trespasser. We're going to bring him in." Donnie murmured over the radio.
The Anzen leader gazed at Mikey when he heard this news. "A trespasser? Who?"
"His name is Vasari. He's a stray shapeshifter. Osa and I assume Cormac will take care of him." Donnie explained. "Don't worry about us, though. Osa is keeping him in check."
Leo let out a heavy sigh, holding onto the faint hope that his brother and sister-in-law are behaving appropriately when dealing with a trespasser. "Thanks for letting me know. Keep me updated and stay safe, man."
