"Zara Gray Melendez Cua!"

Pumikit ako ng mariin nang marinig ko ang lakas ng boses ni Mikko. Kailangan talaga full name?!

"Ano ba kasi 'yon?" kalmadong tanong ko kahit na kanina ko pa siya gustong hampasin.

"Sige na, please? Kailangan lang talaga namin ng vocalist sa themed party niyo!"

Umiling ako. Sana talaga hindi ko nalang muna sinabi sa kanyang dito ako nag-enroll sa RU!

"Ayoko nga. Balak kong mag-enjoy sa party okay? Ayoko namang kumanta-kanta lang doon!"

"We badly need a vocalist for the party. Nakakahiyang tumanggi lalo na at ineexpect nilang papayag kami. My brother is part of the students in charge. Please? Tatlong kanta lang tapos pwede ka nang mag enjoy sa party."

"No—"

"Zara Gray!" he yelled.

Tinikom niya kaagad ang bibig niya nang tingnan ko siya ng masama.

"Pa-birthday gift mo na sa akin 'to! Please?"

Malakas akong bumuntong-hininga. Ano pa nga bang choice ko?! Minsan lang naman siya humingi ng favor sa akin.

"Oo na!" I said. "Just text me the other details. Okay na?"

"Talaga?" His face lightened up. "Promise 'yan, ha? Sasabihin ko na kila Brix na magpeperform tayo."

"Bahala ka sa gusto mong gawin," I replied.

"Yes!" He shouted loudly as he jumped. "Thank you, Za. The best ka talaga!"

"Just three songs and we're done. Kapag sumobra tayo ng isang kanta, I won't allow you to ask me for a favor again the next time," I warned him.

"Noted!" Sumaludo siya sa akin. "I'll text you the other details. Thank you!"

I just shook my head as I watched him walk away with a big smile.

Hindi naman mahirap gawin ang hinihingi niyang favor. Kakanta lang naman ako. The only problem here is, I don't want to start my college life by singing. As much as possible, I only wanted to focus on my studies as an architecture student.

"Was that Mikko?" Cali asked me.

I nodded.

"Kinulit ka na naman bang maging vocalist?" Lor asked me.

Cali and Lorelei are my friends. We were high school classmates at SVU. Kung bakit kami lumipat sa RU? Sinuggest ni Daddy na dito ako mag-aral because he's also a product of RU. Nang sabihin ko sa kanilang dalawa ang balak ko ay sumama na rin sila.

"Ano pa nga ba?" I shrugged before accepting my lemonade.

We're here at the RU to settle our payments before the class starts and also to tour around so we won't get lost in finding our building when the class starts.

"Vocalist? May gig ulit kayo? Akala ko ba magla-lie low ka muna sa pagtutugtog ngayong college?"

"'Yon nga! Hindi lang talaga ako makatanggi kay Mikko."

"What a good friend," Cali smirked. "What is it for and why did he ask you to be a vocalist in their band?"

"The students in charge of our freshmen week asked them to perform for the themed party," I answered.

I almost spent my whole week preparing for school, my clothes for the themed party, and practicing with the band. Hindi naman na sila iba sa akin dahil madalas din naman akong sumama sa kanila tuwing may gig sila sa Friends and Lovers.
