When she was very young
her eyes glistened
like diamonds in a field of coal
like fresh snow in the winter sun
Her smile was beautifully crooked
too little to form a perfect smile
missing teeth
but she looked perfectly imperfect
she was so happy
so joyful
so quiet
so reserved
and then she got older
the world realized she was a fresh new soul
to devour and rip apart

her eyes dont glisten
like diamonds in a field of coal
theyre dull
like coal in a field of diamonds
she hardly ever smiled
she was too tired
she didnt have the energy
to even flip to corners of her mouth
she was depressed
so sad
so quiet
so broken
the world is a nasty place
and she had had enough
that happy little girl
was now depressed
