C H A P T E R 41:

It was at that very day the accident choose to occur; just directly across the old family house. That day, Edric had graced his siblings get together and Elene had ran out excitedly to buy her brother a drink without knowing that it was going to be the end of her dear life. Her twin brother had claimed to have seen the killers face.

That killer was presently sitting opposite him at the dinning table with complete shock written all over his face while Edric dug his fingers into his palm, fighting with the urge to pounce on his sisters killer and squeeze the life out of him.

To everyone at the dinning table, the visitor happens to be a killer but to May, he was literally everything to her. It was unbelievable. In fact, May ceased to believe it for the Iby she knew couldn't even hurt a fly.

No. May shook her head in thought. Elene's killer cannot be Iby. It can't be him.

"Edric, seems like you are making a big mistake," May voiced out, "Iby here is not a killer. I trust him."

"It was hard to recognize you because of your dreadlocks are gone," Edric directed his words to Iby, totally ignoring May. It was like she hadn't even spoken to him, "but you see that burn on your lip that is almost fading away, I would never forget it. It was like I captured your face with my eyes and it is like I can still picture everything that happened that afternoon."

For May, Edric was going nuts and was saying rubbish. She needed Iby's confirmation that all what her ex husband had said about him wasn't true, "Please tell them you didn't kill Elene. I know you didn't." She nodded in negative, "You couldn't have."

Iby's silence was killing May and everyone in the room. He couldn't bring himself to say it. Everything felt surreal to him. He wanted the ground to open up and swallow him that minute. Edric was certain it was Iby and no matter what May had to say just to defend him, Edric would always stand on his grounds.

"You killed my sister and that's why you are tongue tied. Not so?" Edric deadpanned, "I would make sure you pay for it. You escaped before but you can't escape this time around. I'd make sure, even if it means with my last drop of blood, that you pay the price for Elene's death, you murderer."

May couldn't take it any more, "Edric, please..." Her voice quivered and her eyes got soaked with tears, "He hasn't admitted just yet that he is the killer. Stop jumping into conclusion. Let him at least speak -"

Iby had her cut shut with his words, "I'm guilty,"

May gasped. Her palm covered her nose and mouth while the tears she'd been holding, dribbled down her eyes.

"I hit the young lady with my car and drove away." He continued.

Edric relaxed now on his seat with a satisfied smile on his face. It wasn't exactly a smile of happiness but of wickedness and the thought that he was actually smart to have been recording with his phone underneath the table, was some thing to be proud of. He stopped recording and saved the part he wanted which was where Iby had admitted he was Elene's killer. It was going to be enough evidence against Iby in court. Edric tapped the table in front of him with his fingers slowly but silently, intending to watch how May's face would drop knowing now that he wasn't mistaking after all.
