Trigger warnings: character death, implied rape, abuse, let me know if I missed any
“Okay let’s see where should I start…” She said taking a deep breath. “I guess I could start with actually nice stuff. You and me are actually related.” She said with a small smile.
“Wait really?” Virgil said surprised. “Are we actually siblings?”
“Ha no, but we are cousins. Your mom and my dad are siblings.” She explained.
“Oh.. if that was the ‘nice stuff’ what’s the bad stuff?” Virgil questioned.
“I’ll just tell you what I know. So uh,” She paused as she sorted through the details in her head. “Okay, so your dad is the Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack.” Virgil blinked in surprise. His dad was an Alpha, that would mean. “Yes Virgil, you have Alpha blood coursing through your veins.” She answered his silent question. “I’ll explain more about that later.” She stated moving on.
“Your dad has a brother named Hunter. I was told that he used to be a very kind person. He was apparently very sweet to his mate, but then she got pregnant. She was already a sickly woman and both she and the pup died in childbirth. Apparently that broke something inside Hunter. He went crazy. Deeming him a danger to the pack your father exiled Hunter. It was about a year or so later that your mom and dad announced that they were expecting. Somehow Hunter heard about this. He came back and uh..” Molly glanced at Virgil to see him listening intently and she cringed. “He killed your dad.” Virgil cringed but didn’t interrupt. “He didn’t kill your mom, because he wanted you. He wanted to raise you as his air. Because he was the Alpha now, and what is an Alpha without an air. Your mom managed to run away. A few days later she gave birth to you. She knew Hunter wouldn’t stop until he found you guys so she made the hardest decision of her life. She left you at the orphanage, where she prayed you would be safe and then went back to Hunter. She told him that her pup didn’t survive. Luckily she was so distraught over leaving you he assumed it was her mourning the death of her pup.”
“How do you fit into all of this?” Virgil interrupted. He didn’t mean to, he was just anxious to understand.
“My dad was your mom’s brother and your dad’s best friend. It made sense that he is also the Beta of the pack. After Hunter took over and your mom ran away, my parents had me, but they were scared of what Hunter might do to me. So they hid me away. For the first years of my life I lived alone in their basement. They loved me dearly, but they didn’t even want Hunter to know of my existence. So, I was never allowed to leave that cold dark basement. My parents are such kind people they raised me the best they could, and they knew the isolation was so hard on me, but what could they do.” Molly seemed desperate to prove that her parents were good people despite isolating her.
“When I was five and a half your mom finally confided in her brother and her best friend, my mom, that you were alive. My parents also told her of my existence. It was your mother’s suggestion that I should live with you in the orphanage, so I could leave the lonely existence I had. For half a year they taught me all they could about what we were and who you were and everything else I could possibly need. At the age of six they snuck out of the pack borders and left me with the orphanage.” Molly explained.
“If that’s true then…” Virgil trailed off.
“Then why did I disappear?” Molly offered. Virgil nodded.
“Well, remember when I scared the crap out of Andrew?” Virgil nodded to confirm he had. “Hunter had been in the area. He caught our sent and recognized it as a part of his pack. Then he saw my eyes. I had accidentally let them flash. And only our pack has purple eyes. He had no clue what gender of kid your mom had and he had no clue I existed. So…”
Virgil’s eyes widened, “He thought you were me.” Molly nodded. Tears had started spilling from her eyes.
“That night I could smell him outside of the orphanage. I knew if he came in he could do something horrible. I couldn’t let anyone get hurt. That’s why I made you promise me those things, and then I went with him willingly. I played the part of not knowing anything about werewolves and he told me he could teach me. So I left with him.” Molly had started shaking horribly. “When we got the pack he left me alone in a room with your mother. He called it mercy, to let us talk. She asked about you. Asked how you were. She had to know you were okay. He came back an hour later, and… and he…” Molly hiccupped harshly as her whole body was wracked with sobs. Virgil wrapped his arm around her and gave a reassuring squeeze. “He killed her Virgil. He killed her and made me watch. It was so horrible. I couldn’t help, I couldn’t do anything. He was mad at her for lying about her pup dying, and me existing made him so mad.” Virgil growled as he felt his intestines do a flip. It wasn’t Molly’s fault.
“And then… then he…” Molly had started breathing harshly and was unable to spit out her words and it only served to frustrate the poor girl. “With your mother’s blood still soaked into his body he…. ‘Did things’ to me. He didn’t stop there. He starved me and tortured me for years. He made me his slave. He forced me to do awful things. I only got away, because I managed to play dead after one particularly awful beating. He left me to rot in the woods, and I ran. That’s when you found me.” Molly finished. She was weeping hysterically and couldn’t stop.
Virgil was silent his body stiff and unmoving his eyes looking away from Molly, “Please say something Virgil. I can’t bare this silence.”
His eyes snapped to Molly and were glowing and electric sparks of purple danced in them. Molly gasped and glanced at his necklace to see it pulsating brightly with color. “V-virgil p-please calm down.”
“I’m going to kill him.” He said with a deadly cadence to his voice. His voice warping slightly. His body trembled with rage.
“Virgil please!” She cried desperately.
“HE’S A DEAD MAN!” He growled. He didn’t hear her anymore, all he knew was this Hunter asshole had hurt his family. He of course cared that he killed his parents, but Virgil didn’t know them and could only mourn their lost so much. But this monster had hurt Molly. Bright, sweet, and friendly Molly. He felt something snap. He was going to kill that monster. Without another word he scooped Molly up and headed to the pack house ignoring her protests.
“I’m going to kill him.”
