"What do you mean it doesn’t exist?” Roman asked frustration leaking into his voice. As he paced his office floor.

“I mean the Shadow Moon Pack doesn’t exist!” Logan repeated himself. “I have been researching nearly non stop since you gave me this task, and nothing. I couldn’t find a single mention of a Shadow Moon Pack in any Werewolf organization, history, or even lore.” Logan stated irritated.

“Then why would she say that they belong to that pack?” Roman asked.

Logan just looked at him a look that clearly said, “How the hell am I supposed to know.”

Roman growledand ran a hand through his hair sending it into a messy disarray. “What about the fire?”

“Well there is no logical reason behind it….” Logan said slowly.

“But” Roman offered.

“But I did find an ancient legend that describes wolves that were warriors of the Moon Goddess herself. They served and protected her. She blessed them with immense powers so that all other wolves would be inferior in comparison. However, the legend never stated what this powers were, just that they were immense.” Logan explained

“You think there is a connection?” Roman said unsure.

“I think all myths are based in some truth, and it was all I could come up with.” Logan said before bowing his head. He clenched his fist and bit his lip. “I’m sorry I couldn’t do more.”

Hearing the disappointment in Logan’s voice Roman looked at him better. That’s when he realized his second in command was a mess. He had a deep dark circles under his eyes and his hair was unkempt and greasy. His shirt was wrinkled and had several stains of what looked like coffee.

‘Patton come here.’ Roman said via mind link and then moved towards Logan. “Logan when was the last time you slept?”

Logan’s face scrunched up in thought, “I don’t know.” He said simply.

“Why not?” Roman said gently.

“Because you gave me a task. I had to figure it out!” Logan said, the exhaustion catching up with him and causing him to lose his control on his emotions and a few traitorous tears fell from his eyes.

Before Roman could collect himself enough to respond Patton burst through the doors, he could feel his mates sadness and he had to fix it. He wrapped his arms around Logan. Logan collapsed into his embrace.

“Patton, what happened? How did he get like this?” Roman demanded.

“I tried everything Roman. I tried to get him to sleep, but he felt so guilty, and I think he thought if he could find some sort of answer for you it would make up for it.” Patton stopped and looked back at Logan, wiping tears from his cheeks, “But I told you, you don’t have to feel guilty for that. You didn’t know, you didn’t mean to hurt him.”

Logan sniffled miserably, “But I hurt him. I forced him to talk! His first words in months was ‘I’m sorry’ I caused that. I hurt someone so precious to this pack! I had to do something to make up for that! I had to!”

Roman’s eyes widened finally understanding what was going on. Roman walked up to him and wrapped his large arms around both Patton and Logan.

“Easy there L, I’m sure Virgil doesn’t blame you. That was a strange set of circumstances for all of us. You don’t have to work to this level of exhaustion to make up for it.” Roman said to ease the stressed nerd.

Logan continued to shake like a leaf and shook his head. His breathing becoming ragged and short. He was starting to have a panic attack

Roman sighed before exiting the room, only to return a few seconds later with Virgil. Virgil was confused that Roman had suddenly dragged  him to his office, but when he saw Logan panicking on the floor in Patton’s arms he immediately jumped into action.

He went to help, but Patton growled at him. Light blue eyes flashing brightly. Patton could feel Logan panicking and he had to keep him safe. He pulled Logan in who only started freaking out worse.

“Patton, I’m not going to take him from you, but let me help. I know what I am doing.” Virgil said trying to move in again, but Patton just growled again.

“Come on Pop Star you can trust me.” Virgil said with a gentle smile, but keeping an eye on how Logan was doing. It wasn’t good. He was shaking and grabbing his hair tightly. He was trying to pull it out.

Patton seemed to relax enough to let Virgil get close. Virgil cautiously approached them kneeling down to their level.

“Hey Lo, Can You here me.” Logan tensed, but then nodded. “Okay, can you talk.”

“Y-yes,” He said shakily. Still gasping for air.

“Okay, that’s good. Can you name for me five things you can see.”

Logan gave a shaky nod. “Patton, R-roman’s desk, the ceiling l-lights, pappers, and you.” He said stuttering slightly as he continued to breathe hard.

“Perfect! Now four things you can touch.”

“Patton, uh.. The floor, his shirt, my shirt.”

“Three things you can hear.”

“Patton’s breathing, the fan, I can also slightly hear Remus being an idiot down stairs.” Roman gave a small laugh at that.

“Two things you smell.”

“Chocolate-chip-cookies and mint.” Patton smilled, because he had heard Logan describe his scent like that many times.

“One thing you can taste.”

Logan licked his lips slightly, “My morning coffee.”

“How are you feeling now?” Virgil said softly.

“Adequate, thank you.” Logan said wiping his face off.

“May I ask what caused that?” Virgil said looking around the room for answers.

“Logan felt guilty, for how you two met and he worked himself to the bone trying to make up for it.” Roman jumped in.

Logan flinched slightly and Virgil sat there surprised. “Is that why you have been avoiding me?” VIrgil questioned. Logan nodded sadly.

“Logan, I forgave you for that a long time ago. You have no reason to beat yourself up over it now.” Virgil said firmly.

“But…” Logan started.

“No ‘buts’ if you really want to make it up to me stop blaming yourself for something out of your control and knowledge.” Virgil gave a small smirk. “That’s my job.”

Logan seemed to finally relax and he smiled, shaking his head.

“Falsehood.”
