The trio spoke for a while, Patton trying to calm Virgil down and getting him cleaned up so it didn’t look like he had been crying. Eventually, the bell rang. However, it wasn’t the late bell for the next class or the next. It was the bell signalling that it was lunch time. They had been in the closet a lot longer than they thought, and time really gets away from you when you are crying your eyes out and are scared out of your mind. Virgil cursed himself for missing two classes on his first day. How the hell was he supposed to explain that?

They were about to leave the room when a patch of silver around Virgil neck caught Logan’s eyes. “Virgil what are you wearing around your neck.” He asked.

Virgil looked down at his necklace and grimaced slightly upon seeing it. “A necklace?” He said like a question.

“Yes indeed, I can see that. Perhaps a better question would be where did you acquire that necklace.” Logan elaborated.

“Um, why do you care?” Virgil asked skeptical his eyebrows furrowing.

“Oh, would you just humor me and answer the question?” Logan replied exasperated.

“Fine if you must know, I have always had it. I was abandoned at an orphanage as an infant and this was the only thing I was left with, hence my name.” He said holding it up for the others to see.  “Now if you are done dragging me into dark closets and interrogating me on things I am gonna go, before I miss anymore of my classes.” After calming down he was very annoyed that he had let his walls down in his fear. He wasn’t supposed to get too close to anyone again. Sure he just met these two, but they were already too close for comfort. So, Virgil was leaving and fast.

Before the other two really had time to talk he opened the door and darted out into the hallway. He quickly went to the cafeteria where he grabbed an apple, then went in search of an uncrowded area where he could sit and relax for the rest of lunch. Virgil let out a sigh as he settled down on a un occupied bench outside and far away from the rest of the student body. This should be a good place to hide from society for at least a little while.

“Hey, Virgil!”

Well, it was good while it lasted. Virgil looked up to see that Patton was running up to him. “What are you doing over here all by your lonesome?” Patton asked tilting his head like a puppy. “Shouldn’t you try to meet some new people? You know being new and all.”

“I don’t like people.” Virgil said coldly.

“Aww, does that mean you don’t like me.” Patton asked pointing his finger at himself with a pout.

“Not particularly.” He said with no remorse. Patton frowned, “I mean how could I like someone I just met. That makes no sense.” He mumbled under his breath so Patton couldn’t hear.

“Well I like you, even if we just met!” Patton said happily like he was a child. Virgil looked at him in surprise. He thought for sure he had said that quite enough that the other wouldn’t be able to hear, but he decided not to bring that up and scoffed instead.

“Ya, no. One: you don’t know me well enough to like me. Two: I’m not a likeable person. And three: Why are you talking to me anyways?” Virgil stated dully.

Patton seemed disheartened at first ducking his head sadly before he suddenly perked back up with a silly yet devious grin on his face. “Well if I don’t know you well enough, I guess I’m just going to have to get to know you better.” He said avoiding Virgil’s question.

Virgil flinched slightly at the idea and gave a humorless laugh. “Yeah, good luck, you’re gonna need it.”  He said sarcastically.

Either not catching the sarcasm or electing to ignore it Patton smiled brightly “Thanks!”

Virgil rolled his eyes. “So where is the Walking Iceberg.”

Patton furrowed his eyebrows in confusion not sure who Virgil was talking about at first before he realized. “Oh! You mean Logan?” Patton asked to confirm it with Virgil. Virgil nodded. “He is... “ Patton paused for a second getting a far off look in his eyes before his eyes cleared and he finished. “He’s with our Al-... other friend Roman. Apparently has some stuff they need to talk about. I don’t think Roman is very happy about it at the moment, but hopefully he’ll come around to the idea.”
