My injuries weren't that bad. One arm needed five stitches, but the other was just scraped up around the elbow. My roommates would probably freak out when they saw, I was usually the responsible one out of all of my friends.
As we left the clinic, it was already getting dark. I wanted to go home and eat dinner, but Dahyun had to stop at the bank first. She was worried about getting loans for school, and wanted to make sure she was cleared for enough money.
The bank was on the way, so it wasn't a big deal. The building itself was huge and old, with big stone pillars. I had never been inside before but I had heard people say that it was the largest bank in Korea.
Dahyun got in a long line for the teller, and I snuck off to the bathroom while I was waiting for her. As I was washing my hands, I looked in the mirror at myself. I looked tired, but not horrible. I was wearing some makeup. Just a simple pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. Although my t-shirt was dirty now from the incident that happened before.
Why was that guy so mean to me? Did he really not care enough to check and see if I was okay?
I shook my head of thoughts of him. "I'm so stupid, why do I even care what that guy thought of me?" I told myself out loud. But my thoughts were soon interrupted by distant shouting.
"Get down on the ground!"
"Give me the key to the safe! NOW!" Multiple male voices were yelling in the main building.
Oh my god, the bank is being robbed.
I stumbled and caught myself on the sink. I went towards a stall to hide, but then reconsidered.
I had to make sure Dahyun was okay first.
It had quieted down a bit. The voices were still anxiously talking and barking orders and I could hear some other whimpering if I pressed my ear to the door. I opened the door a crack.
Good, the robbers aren't nearby.
They were all gathered across the room. There were 6 robbers that I saw, dressed in all black and face masks. They each had a very frightening-looking gun around their shoulder. Everyone else was sitting on the floor. Some were wearing ties and nametags (the bank tellers), others just wore regular clothes. And I saw Dahyun sitting against the wall. I had never seen her look that scared before. I had to find a way to comfort her.
Since the robbers weren't facing me, I waved at Dahyun to get her attention. She didn't notice me, so I waved even more obviously. My heart was pounding.
The robbers were just chatting in the corner. "What the hell is taking so long?" I heard one of them say.
Finally, my best friend noticed my waving. Although I love her, she isn't the brightest person in the world. She gave me a small wave back but her wave caught the eye of one of the robbers. He looked at her and followed her eyes to me.
"Oh shit," I mumbled and scurried back into a bathroom stall. I locked the door as my heart raced. I heard the bathroom door creak open.
I'm dead now, I know it.
