WARNING: This chapter describes symptoms of unidentified mental disorders including hearing voices and hallucinating.

I was sick, both mentally and physically.

I had been imprisoned an unidentified amount of time. After they realized that I wasn't going to tell them anything of value, the constant interrogations suddenly stopped. And although I was relieved at no longer being attacked with questions, I also lost the only human contact that I had been receiving. That was when I really lost it.

On one occasion, I had awoken to a voice whispering my name. I searched all over my cell, but I could never find the source of the sound. It just continued to call out my name, without giving any indication of what the voice wanted.

Sometimes I would sit against the wall and count the metal bars that kept me entrapped. I knew well from the first time I had counted that there were 54, but, dismally, it was one of the only tasks that would keep me entertained. I once counted 53 bars instead, and then 52. I realized after I watched them for a while that the bars were fluently merging together and then dividing. I knew that didn't really make sense, but I could see them with my own eyes. I had never questioned my vision before.

After a while, I could no longer stomach the grayish porridge they fed me. Twice a day, an officer would wordlessly set down a bowl of the substance into the cell. And almost everyday, I would throw it back up into the steel toilet bowl. It became so frequent that my throat was constantly burning from the stomach bile. This was coupled with occasional pounding migraines. Needless to say, my body felt like it was deteriorating quickly.

And I still didn't understand why they couldn't just let me go.

After a particularly bad episode of hallucinations, I had dozed off into a troubled slumber. I tossed and turned for what seemed like hours, not gaining a real moment of rest, only to be brought back to consciousness by the sound of the steel-barred cell door lurching open.

This was normal. Everyday the officer would open the door, carefully place the tray with porridge, wordlessly step away and lock the gate once again.

Except this time the guard didn't leave.

Instead he slowly sauntered over to where I was lying. His face was covered with a mask to protect his identity, but his deep brown eyes immediately connected with mine. I recognized them immediately. He knelt down by my bed with worried eyes. Quickly, he wrapped his arms around me, lifting me into a bear hug. Such a comfortable feeling.

In my mental daze, I could only manage to convey his name.

"Yunho..." I whispered into his neck.

"Don't worry Y/N, I'm going to get you out of here."

DAHYUN'S POV

The minute that I was released from the bank, I became obsessed. Obsessed with finding the robbers and more importantly, and obsessed with getting my best friend back. The police had questioned me on everything, from the intricate details of the heist operation to the specific features of each of the robbers' faces. Although I wasn't too helpful with the latter, since they had consistently worn masks, I still went back to the police station everyday, with any detail that I thought could help them.

Some people told me to give up. That my efforts wouldn't help. Someone even had the audacity to tell me that she was probably dead. But something in my heart told me not to give up. I knew she wasn't dead. Not yet.

On a Wednesday afternoon, I had finished my classes early and went by the police station. I had remembered something about the clothes the robbers were wearing, and needed to report it. After I left the police station, satisfied with my efforts for the day, I trudged home to study. My grades had fallen behind considerably since the event. Who could focus on school with a missing best friend?

I punched the code into the keypad on my apartment door, and the door beeped open. I flicked on the lights and kicked off my sneakers. I wandered over to my couch to collapse down on my couch, but instead I gasped.

Two large men sat silently on the couch, staring directly at me. My heart jumped and I reached towards my bag to grab my phone. But a booming voice interrupted my movement.

"Dahyun, stop. We aren't here to cause you any trouble."

The voice seemed familiar. "Who are you? What the hell do you want from me?"

"My name is Jeong Yunho, and this is Song Mingi. We're two of the robbers from the heist."

What the hell are they doing here? What if they try to kidnap me too?

I slowly stepped backwards towards the door, hoping I could make a run for it.

The other man began talking, "Look Dahyun, we aren't going to hurt you. We're here to help Y/N." He looked genuine, but I still didn't trust him.

"Help Y/N? Are you kidding me? You're the ones who kidnapped her!" I took a couple more steps backwards.

Yunho calmly spoke up again. "We don't have her. The police took her a week ago. That's why we're here, we're worried that she's in danger."

"Why the hell do you two care if she's danger anyways?" I spat at them. My mind was running through their story. If the police had taken her, why wasn't it released in the news? Something definitely seemed off.

They exchanged a knowing glance. Mingi stepped towards me. "Please, you have to help us. We know you've been to the police station. You have to help one of us get in there and make sure Y/N is safe."

I stopped backing away from them. They could have kidnapped me by now if they wanted to. The fact that they hadn't made me feel a little more comfortable.

"Just let us explain our plan, and then if you still want us to leave, we will."

I hesitated. Working with them would probably make me a criminal as well. But if it could help Y/N...

"Fine, tell me the plan."

Note to Reader:

Sorry this chapter took a while. Also I'm kinda sad that Y/N, Mingi and Yunho have been separated for so many chapters, I've been missing the rOmAnCe.
