-------YUNHO'S POV--------
The safe house turned out to be an apartment in Busan. It was a lot smaller than the house we had been staying at, but it would serve its purpose. After a silent three-hour car ride to the southern edge of Korea, we had finally arrived at the moderate apartment complex. The others were already inside, in the process of unpacking their things. I followed Seonghwa, San and Wooyoung inside. We were greeted by a mixture of surprised faces and sheepish looks.
Yeosang spoke first, "Oh thank god, San you're okay!" He pulled him into a tight embrace. San looked surprised at first but quickly hugged him back.
"I feel really bad man, I mean, we didn't really think you would wake up in time." Mingi looked down to his feet. He knew he had messed up, but there were certain things that even an apology didn't seem to make a dent in resolving. "I'm really sorry for leaving."
San just smiled. "It's okay. Don't worry about it. If I could have told you to go, I would have. There's no point in all of you going to jail just because of me."
Where he got the kindness to forgive so easily, I would never know.
"Still..." Mingi mumbled.
San shook his head, "Let's just forget about it and move forward. We're all safe for now, let's just focus on that."
Wooyoung helped him to the bedroom so he could lie down and continue to heal. Even though he was strong enough to move around, his wound could still easily become infected. Seonghwa was good at first aid, but he wasn't a doctor. And the hospital was completely out of the question. That's where the police would be looking for them first.
I sat down in front of the TV, letting out a long sigh. I didn't realize until then how much pent up stress I was holding in. I sunk into the soft couch cushions.
I was frustrated with myself. I should have been worried about my safety. I should have been more worried about San's recovery. It even would have been okay if I was worried about our next move. But instead, I found myself thinking of Y/N.
Why did she have to escape? Did she not care about me at all? These continuous speculations wouldn't let me relax. I wanted to hate her, but my mind would always drift to how soft her hair felt or how her lips bend up at the corners when she smiled.
"Yunho?" Mingi muttered while staring at the news playing on TV. His brow was furrowed in deep thought.
"What is it?"
He motioned towards the TV. "Why isn't Y/N on the news?"
I was confused. "What do you mean?"
"The news has been covering our heist nonstop since it happened. They've been searching for any new detail about it furiously. So why aren't they reporting on the missing victim that has just escaped? Is that not something newsworthy?" He explained his thoughts out loud.
I stared at the TV screen. The news was covering a candlelight vigil in front of the bank where the heist occurred. A large group of young people were gathered, praying for the safe return of the missing hostage.
"That doesn't make any sense, why wouldn't people know about her return?" I thought out loud. "Unless... the police didn't announce that she'd been rescued."
Mingi turned towards me with big eyes, "Why wouldn't they announce it?"
"I don't know... but I'm worried. What if she's in danger?" My voice got quieter as my mind began exploring this new avenue.
"Yunho, we have to do something. I need to know that she's okay." His voice was desperate.
"What do you suggest?" I asked.
I grabbed the remote control and turned off the news. Mingi and I spent the rest of the night strategizing and cooking up plans. I knew that we didn't really get along before, but we could put aside our differences to focus on the one thing that we had in common. Our love for Y/N.
