"We're home!" I got awakened by San yelling.
My eyes flickered open. Shit, how long was I asleep?
I realized that I had no idea how long or in what direction we had been driving from Seoul, which meant that I had zero indication of where I was. Stupid.
We all hopped out of the back of the dump truck, and I was awestruck. The sun shone down over a beautiful countryside of rolling hills and forest in the distance. There wasn't a landmark or house in sight, except for the one that we had pulled up to, which was a literal mansion.
The Victorian house stood at three stories tall. The beautiful stone walls were supported by multiple white pillars. A beautiful garden surrounded the whole building. It almost looked like a castle, but prettier.
I leaned over to Yunho, "I thought you said you were all poor, what is this?"
"We are poor, but he's not." Yunho nodded over at Hongjoong. "It's his house, we just live here."
What a strange little man, I thought. Why would he rob a bank if he was already rich?
The group was in high spirits as they unloaded the money. They had gotten away with it. I was sitting on the porch of the house, just watching them. I admired the ones that I hadn't noticed too much before, in the midst of all the chaos. They weren't at all what I'd expected robbers to look like. The one called Seonghwa was so beautiful and ethereal with jet black hair. Yeosang looked so cute, like a little puppy. And Wooyoung and San were both so handsome, plus they looked so good together (I'm pretty sure they're dating?).
In my trance, I didn't notice Hongjoong come up behind me. He laughed, "Admiring my boys, are you?" He wasn't wrong.
"Can I sit?" He asked.
I nodded, not really expecting his actions to change based on my answer.
"I bet you're wondering what's going to happen next. You see, right now you're our safety net. The boys think we've gotten away with it, but I know better. We just robbed the largest bank in Korea, the police are going crazy looking for looking for us. They might even find us, which is why I need you. You just have to stay here for a while, then eventually, once the police stop looking, we can let you go."
"How long will that be?"
"I don't know exactly. Maybe a month, maybe a year."
I doubted that he would let me go but I tried anyways. "I doubt you guys need me, we're in the middle of nowhere! Hongjoong, I just really want to go home."
"You will," he replied, "Eventually." Then he got up, and continued helping to carry the money inside. I felt like crying. A year!? There's no way I'm staying here that long.
Once they finished up, I followed them inside. It was even more extravagant then I had pictured. A huge spiral staircase greeted me as I walked in, with a crystal chandelier hanging from the high ceiling. It looked like some kind of crazy billionaire's house.
"Guys, I'm making us some food!" Seonghwa announced. He officially became my favourite person, as my stomach had been audibly growling since I had woken up.
The robbers ran off into what I assumed to be a kitchen. Even though my stomach urged me to, I didn't follow. I wasn't sure if I was included in Seonghwa's offer of food. But my questions were soon answered by a hand grabbing my wrist and pulling me towards the kitchen.
"Come on sweetheart, let's get you some food." Mingi smiled. I hadn't seen him genuinely smile before. Grins and smirks, I had seen, but a genuine smile was new to me. I almost forgot how scary he normally was.
That is until he slapped my ass.
"Or Daddy could take you somewhere else, if you'd prefer." He winked suggestively.
"N–no, food is good." He laughed at my nervous stutter. I mentally smacked myself.
Food is good? That was a really smart thing to say, Y/N. I thought to myself as he led me into the kitchen.
I'm pretty sure Seonghwa had cooked enough for half of Korea. Seriously, how much did these guys eat? They sat around a large glass table, piled high with various meat and vegetable dishes. When the scent hit my nose, I had to force myself not to drool on the floor. The group sat around the table but I realized there were only eight chairs.
"Um, is there another chair?" I asked timidly.
"You can sit on my lap baby." Mingi gestured towards his legs. The robbers were curious to see my next move. Yunho watched with more intensity than the rest.
"I can just stand..."
Mingi grabbed my arm and pulled me onto his lap. He secured me with one of his arms around my waist. "Are you really going to complain, or do you want to eat?"
I froze for a moment but realized that he was right. I could only really think about the beautiful dishes sitting in front of me. The robbers dug in and so did I. I wasn't sure if they could eat it all, but by the time I had finished my first bowl, they had already finished at least three each. Within thirty minutes, all of the plates were empty and everyone sat around the table, chatting enthusiastically after their day's success.
It was good they were so happy. Maybe if they let their guards down, they wouldn't notice me trying to escape.
