SAN'S POV
I decided to hide in my room all morning and for most of the afternoon. I wrapped myself up in my fluffy duvet and binge watched an entire season of my favourite drama on Netflix, while trying to ignore the drama that my life had become.
Even though I didn't want to see Wooyoung, I still expected him to come to find and attempt to talk to me. But surprisingly, by mid-afternoon, he still hadn't knocked at my door, and each minute that he didn't, I became more and more annoyed. Did I not at least deserve an explanation after what he said?
My thoughts were immediately suspended when my stomach grumbled loudly. I hadn't had anything to eat all day and I started to feel a bit weak. However, leaving my room would mean potentially running into Wooyoung, something I wanted to avoid at all costs.
Finally, I sighed and conceded to my hunger. I climbed out from beneath my warm mountain of blankets and slid slippers onto my bare feet. Carefully I opened my door and slid down the hallway towards the kitchen. To my luck, the only person in there was Seonghwa, who was quietly sitting at the table, reading something I probably wouldn't understand. He glanced up as I entered the room.
"Hey... you okay?" He asked cautiously, putting down his book.
"Oh yeah," I fibbed, "I just came to get some food."
"I'll heat something up for you." Before I could respond, he was out of his chair and opening the refrigerator. Unwilling the fight him on it, I just sat down.
"So where is everyone?" I asked in a low voice. It was unusually quiet in the house.
"Hmm, well Mingi and Y/N went to the beach, Hongjoong's out on the terrace, Jongho and Dahyun went to get groceries and I'm not sure about the others..." He paused for a brief second, knowing full well that he couldn't leave out the one person that I really wanted to know about. "And, uh, Wooyoung is asleep in his room. He was sick for a while..."
"Not like I care." I huffed.
Seonghwa set down a chicken sandwich in front of me before picking up his book once again. "Look San, you're going to have to talk to him eventually."
"I don't have to do anything." Bothered by his unsolicited advice, I picked up my plate and headed towards the terrace to enjoy my food in peace, knowing that Hongjoong was anything but nosy. Before I could open the sliding door, I heard him talking to someone, but I couldn't see who. I stuck my ear to the door to listen in.
"...yes, I'd like to report something." His voice was obstructed by the door, so I could just barely make out his words.
Considering I didn't hear another voice, I figured that he was on the phone with someone.
"I saw a girl who looked an awful lot like that hostage from the bank heist out on the beach earlier today," His voice was calm and solid. "There was a man with her as well."
My eyes widened in shock.
Aren't Mingi and Y/N at the beach right now? What the hell is Hongjoong doing?
"My name? No, I'd like this tip to stay anonymous if that's alright." He paused for a moment while the other voice spoke, then continued on, "Yes, no problem officer. I hope you find them."
I immediately shoved the door open, my eyes moving down to the cell phone in Hongjoong's hands. He jumped up, startled by my entrance, and quickly touched the end call icon on his screen.
"San, you surprised me, I was just..." Nervous wasn't a look that I had seen him wear before. His eyes flickered around as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Don't lie to me, I heard that phone call!" I shouted at him. "Why would you tell the police where Mingi and Y/N are?"
"He did what!?" Seonghwa walked up behind me.
Hongjoong sighed, accepting that he had been caught. "Look," he reasoned, "It's too big of a risk having her here. And I knew that Mingi would never consider leaving her... so yeah, I sent the police to go arrest them. I just did what was best for all of us."
"No, you did what was best for you." I countered harshly. "They're our friends. How could you do that to them?" He just shrugged in response.
"Seonghwa, can you watch him? I have to go warn them." I realized. The older man nodded and I took off back inside to grab my shoes. Yunho and Yeosang had emerged after hearing the commotion.
"What's going on?" Yunho tilted his head curiously.
I just pointed towards the terrace, "Ask Hongjoong."
Suddenly another voice called from down the hallway, "Oh, San. Wait, I want to talk to you."
Wooyoung came over to the front door, completely oblivious what was currently unfolding. He was barely awake, with hair sticking up all over the place.
"I really can't right now," I mumbled, tying up my laces and wondering how long I had before the police got to the beach.
He reached out, firmly taking my wrist in his hand, but I quickly ripped it out of his grasp. "I can't deal with you right now!" I didn't mean to yell, but I didn't have time to explain.
As I opened the door to head out, I heard Hongjoong's voice from out on the terrace. "You won't make it in time San. The police will already be there by now."
I didn't care. I had to at least try to warn them.
