Mingi was furious with me. "How did you do it? How did you tell them where you were?"
I was still perched on his bed. I stared down at my hands, my heart weighed down with guilt. "San gave me his phone to call my mom, but I called emergency services instead."
He redressed himself to go investigate the banging and yelling coming from downstairs. Before he left, he crouched down beside the bed to meet my gaze. "Is it really so bad here? Are you suffering so much?" He was basically yelling at me. I just wanted to cover my ears and curl up into a ball. "I need to know one thing, Y/N. Do you even love me, or did you just lie?"
Stinging tears welled up in my eyes. I pushed myself off the mattress and wrapped my arms around him. "Of course, I love you! I didn't lie. I would never lie about that." I looked up at him, and his face was still dark. He didn't believe me.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out. Mingi pushed away from me and ran towards the door. He paused for a moment, turned and stared at me one last time. "Don't move. I'll come back for you soon." And then he left.
The minute the door closed; I felt a breeze from the window. Two police officers in all black dove in completely opening the glass panes. I almost screamed, but instead I just fell backwards in shock. They landed solidly on the floor and stared at me. "Miss, are you okay?" One of them asked. How long had they been waiting outside the window?
The other one picked up a shirt off the floor and threw it at me. I had forgotten that I wasn't wearing any clothes. As embarrassed as I was, I tried to remind myself that what was important was getting out of here. I slid on the shirt. "I'm okay" I managed to get out.
"You have to come with us, there isn't much time." One of the men motioned me over. He secured me to him with a carabiner clip and harness, while the other officer casually hoped out the window and belayed down the back wall of the house. The other officer followed suit, carrying me out with him. While in midair, I heard a loud explosion. My heart lurched. Guilt completely engulfed me. I wanted to go back in. I wanted to make sure they were alright. But I couldn't.
We landed down on the grass. The officer unhooked me from him, and we ran. It was pitch black outside. The clouds even covered the smidgen of light that the moon would have provided. I just followed the sound of the footsteps hammering down on the dirt ahead of me. Eventually, we came across a small dirt street, lined with the flashing lights of multiple police cars.
The officer who had been running in front of me came to a halt, and then harshly pushed me towards the back of one of the cars.
"Wait, where am I going? Can I go home? I want to go home." The only answer that I received was the car door being slammed in my face.
