What is your name?
Carey Decevito
How old are you?
29
What inspired you to write your first book?
I've written for as long as I can remember. I fell away from it over a decade ago but after finding Wattpad, I had the urge to write a little something and now, nearly a year later, I haven't stopped yet!
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I have a few that I check out regularly as well as old ones. Shakespeare comes to mind. One of my recent favorites though and I'm bound to get some flack from some people about that one but it is James Patterson. Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas was one that seriously got to me. I have yet to understand how a man can get into a woman's psyche like he managed to do with me with that book. Lucy Maud Montgomery is another one and incidentally is a Canadian legend. I guess it all depends on what I feel at the time I'm looking for a book. Anne Rice is great as well.
What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?Oddly enough, I've always been a horror, thriller, murder/mystery kind of girl but when writing, somehow romance seems to just spill page after page. So... I take my favorite things and mash them all together with the romance and you have the best of all genres in my opinion!
Do you see writing as a career?
My love for reading and writing have been with me since I was really young. I see writing as a hobby and if I do manage to be discovered or make money off the 'self-publishing' route, then so be it. I write simply because I love to. I would love nothing more than to live the dream and get there some day as a published author but I take it day-by-day, one story after the other, so on and so forth.
If you could work with any author who would it be?
James Patterson comes to mind but that's because he's viewed as such a serious hard nut to crack, a real jerk at times but he has so many collaborative works out there that I can't help but wish to meet the guy some day and pick his brain. Honestly, I wouldn't mind knowing what he'd have to say about my own work.

Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?
I have tendency of using tiny pieces of my own personality, of life events when writing. They can be from my own or someone dear to me.
Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?
Never. Whether it be about my personal life or with my writing, life has brought me lots to be thankful for as well as a few minor things I wouldn't mind having a 'do-over' opportunity. LOL With regards to my writing, I never once thought I'd have the courage to put my works out there for all to see, let alone self-publish.
What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?
NEVER force creativity. It hits you when you least expect it. From personal experience, forcing it has led me to major writing blocks or less than enjoyable and more than dry chapters. More often than not, I've literally scrapped pages and pages in order to re-do them because of that.
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?
The few times I've suffered from writer's block were when I first got started again, last Fall. Honestly, I learned the hard way that forcing things never pays out. After I finally gave in to just take the time and do other things, such as reading instead of writing, the ideas came flowing again. The one thing I had a hard time with is accepting the fact that some fans are a little on the demanding side of things when going through their withdrawal periods. I never let it get to me honestly. I mean, if you let every little thing compound and stress you, you'll only let yourself down. Sure they'll get their chapter and most likely because you forced it and neither you or your fans will be as pleased as if the words had come freely flowing to you. To let every thing or person out there get to you will only take the enjoyment of writing away.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
If you're just starting, congratulations on making that step and sharing your stories. From experience, it's one tough feat. To new and old writers, here's what I stand by when I write. If you can't see it in your minds eye like a movie and you can't feel what your characters are going through, then... DON'T WRITE IT! I've been noticing that most of my successful stories on Wattpad are those that I've held dearest to my heart and literally felt from beginning to end. Those stories, I have received comments, PM's and emails simply stating that I've managed to make a reader cry, laugh, petrified, nervous or just plain angry. I love it when that happens! It makes my writing all that much more worthwhile and rewarding.
Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?
Something fun... Let me see... Hmm... I got one!!! I knew I wasn't that boring! Nope, that's not it! Uh... As much as I hate being the center of attention, I love making people laugh and smile. If you're ever in need a nice big wet smooch or a giant hug, I'M RIGHT HERE!
How would you describe yourself?
I'm a laid-back lady who just loves to have fun. I get very involved with my characters while writing and when I'm not writing I love to pester people on their boards, laugh and go crazy with some of my pals on Wattpad and see where it leads me. You never know, my latest funny shenanigans could possibly lead me to my next story! I love sports, dance, music and art. If I had to pick an animal to come back as, I'd love to be a house cat. Come on! Lazing around in the sunlight all day? Who wouldn't want that? To summarize myself, here's a little poem!
I'm a mother,
I'm a wife,
In a nutshell,
That's my life!
I love to write,
I love to play,
If it were up to me,
I'd do it all day!
