What is your name?
My name is Sarah. :)
How old are you?
I'm 14 years old, I'll be 15 in January.
What inspired you to write your first book?
Well, I've written two types of books. WattPad books and "published books." As of now, I'm working on publishing my first book. It's not on WattPad, but I'm making a lot of changes and hopefully it'll be out by spring next year. But, as inspiration goes, really anything can inspire me. Once I even got inspired by being hungry! Haha, so really anything will inspire me. But, to answer the question--my first book I ever wrote was in fourth grade. It didn't make much sense, but I think I just put all my ideas together and changed my mind a lot. Did I answer that right? Haha.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Ahhh, my favorite author would probably be Mark Peter Hughes or Julia DeVillers and Jennifer Roy. I really love how in one of Mark's novels, Lemonade Mouth, he could write it from five different POVs and each one sound nothing like the other. Yet, the characters connected so much in one certain way. And Julia DeVillers and Jennifer Roy, I love how they're twins, and they can write a book using twin prespective's, each author writing part of the book, and you could never even tell it was written by two people--but yet, at the same time you can. If that makes sense. Haha.
What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?
I love to write fan fiction, but a lot of times I like writing just random stories. That's how I started out anyway. I write more fan fictions than I do just typical stories, but both of them I enjoy. If I had to choose, I'd say typical stories--because even though fan fiction is easier to write, different types of genre and just stuff that comes out of my brain, I feel like it takes harder work, you have to dig deeper to really find that plot that you're comfortable with.

Do you see writing as a career?Oh yes! Haha, both as my present and as my future. Being 14, I don't really have an options to work anywhere, because most places hire at 16 and over. But writing sure does feel like a job sometimes! With the inspiration that never stops, or the inspiration that never comes, it always feels like it's a job. Especially on WattPad.
If you could work with any author who would it be?
That's a tough one. Probably Julia DeVillers and Jennifer Roy, or Jeff Kinney. Or Mark Peter Hughes. There's a lot to choose from! Or--here we go, this will answer the quesiton--the woman that writes the Dork Diaries books. I can't think of her name, and I'm too lazy to look it up like I did with Julia and Jennifer, but probably her. I absolutely love her books.
Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?Oh yes, a lot of the time! Like I said, I got inspired once by being hungry, if that counts haha. But actually, that's what inspired my story Still Believe. My friend was having a really tough time and it inspired me to write about a friend being there for a friend--basically just friends being there for each other. The name is based off a song, Still Believe by Jordan Jansen. So, even though it ended at chapter 20 I'm pretty sure, it was still an amazing story to write. And I'm working on the sequel now! I'd say it's one of my favorite stories I've ever written. That's what's so great about writing, especially when it's based on something real.
Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?
No, actually. For a while I lost my inspiration. I used it to write songs, but writing stories is different because it takes more time. And with the two brain surgeries I've had--it seemed as if writing wouldn't come back to me easily. But it did, and I'm so grateful for that.
What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?
Probably just to walk away and go outside, listen to music--do anything other than writing. You most likely won't get any ideas just sitting there, waiting for it to come. Walk away and go have fun for a couple of hours. And if you're like me and get inspired by things like hunger, do some productive. Let those ideas come to you hahaha :)
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?
Oh yeah, I do. When it does happen, I can go days without working on a story. Maybe even weeks. Sometimes I just gotta do when I said in the last question, just walk away. And then very little inspiration comes after than most of the time haha.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Don't worry about the amount of fans you have or how many people are reading your story. Write because you like or love to.
Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?
I've had two brain surgeries! My first one was November 16th, 2010 and my second one was September 12th, 2012. I got an infection after the second one, but I'm all better now. That's always interesing to tell people, "Oh yeah, I've had brain surgery. No big deal." And they're just like "OMGGGGGG." Haha. And I love socks. I LOVE socks <3
How would you describe yourself?
Kinda dorky, but in a good way. Not that there's a bad way. But I'm kinda just a chill person who doesn't care what I'm wearing sometimes, like if I'm just going out to buy bread or whatever I won't care if my hair doesn't look perfect. I also think I laugh at myself way too much, but that's good to do that. You have to laugh at yourself sometimes. But, as much as I'm "chill" or whatever I just said, I take things seriously and appreciate life everyday because there was a time when I thought it was gonna get taken away from me. So, to answer your question, I think of myself as just a chill, dorky, laugh at yourself attitude but take life seriously because it can be taken away from you at any second.
