What is your name?

Gwen Cole (also known as Newg)

How old are you?

24...I feel very old. 

What inspired you to write your first book?

A lot of sci-fi movies. Like Serenity and Star Trek.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

That's a hard one. I have favorite authors because of their writing style, and then I have favorite authors for their stories. So I'll give you one of each. Maggie Stiefvater(for her writing) and Markus Zusak(for his stories) 

What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?

Definitely sci-fi. Even if it's just a sub genre, it's always in there somewhere.

Do you see writing as a career?

Not right now, no, because I still work full time. But someday I would love nothing more than writing to be a career. 

If you could work with any author who would it be?

Oh, I have no idea. Any of them would be awesome. 

Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?

Well as a writer or in my life, probably not. Nothing ever pans out the way you think it will be. :P

What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?

Take a break. Seriously. If you step away from writing and do other things that you enjoy, you'll find yourself wanting to work more and more everyday. It's healthy to take a 'vacation' from writing. It gives the creativity part of your brain a break. 

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

I actually don't. There will be times I'm struggling with a certain scene, but just as I said above, just step away for a while. Watch movies, read a book, take a shower. Everyone has their different ways. 

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Never stop reading and never stop writing. 

Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?

I'm really awesome at Mario Kart 64. I've never been beaten. It was the only game I had growing up, so it was the only thing I ever played. 

How would you describe yourself?

Super introverted.
