What is your name?

Marijo

How old are you?

23

What inspired you to write your first book?

I wrote my first book when I was 12. I forgot the name. Sorry. Anime shows were my main inspiration back then.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

I have a list with regards to that and I'm always ecstatic to talk about my favorite authors and what I like about them so pardon me if this answer will be really long. Haha. Okay, in no particular order, I'll start with Nicholas Sparks. Aside from writing my all time favorite - A Walk to Remember, I love how he tries different ways and styles with his writings. Then there's Sarah Dessen. I think she's definitely the best writer in her genre. I'm amazed on how she deals with teen issues in her own way. And when I'm having a hard time, I turn to Sophie Kinsella who never fails to make me laugh and can absolutely make all my weariness go away. She really knows how to tickle funny bones without even trying. And then there's Caitlyn Duffy whose way of writing and wording I deeply admire. There are some others but the four mentioned above tops the list.

What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?

I prefer chick lit works but I'm also up to trying other things as well.

Do you see writing as a career?

Yes, I dream about that sometimes.

If you could work with any author who would it be?

Sophie Kinsella. I want to learn from her.

Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?

At times, mostly they are my own.

Did you ever think you'd be where you are right now?

Nope, not ever. I didn't think it was possible until it kind of happened.

What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing?

Breathe and take it easy. It will come around in a few.

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?

Yes, although I deny it everytime. I don't actually want to admit that I am in one when I, in reality, is definitely suffering from it. It's kind of like I fall deeper and deeper into that writer's block if I will admit it to myself. So during times like that, I just let it drift off my mind and think that I'm just having a sweet break. Actually, it's more like I don't do anything about it. And then after several days, I'll miss my book, the characters, everything. And then just like that, I'll be writing again with this big smile on my face. I also try writing random words for minutes and it helps at times. But that sweet break works even better.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Write what you want. Don't compare yourself to other people. You have a thing that they don't and them as well. Instead, always try to be a better you. There's more to you than what you can ever imagine. Just believe.

Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?

I love sleeping... and I do gardening every weekends.

How would you describe yourself?

Your gal next door.
