Thankyou Heba :)
~~~~~~~
What is your name?
Heba, pronounced hee-bah. It's pretty strange It's an arabic name, as I am of the Arab culture.
How old are you?
15 and 8 months.
What inspired you to write your first book?
My first book on Wattpad was a called 'Exquisite' and it was quite the cliche fan ficiton. I basically poured all of my favorite things into it; royalty, Justin Bieber, jellybeans, cake, paprazzi and even 6 million twitter followers. It wasn't so well written, but it was my very first book, and it was two years ago. But, that book helped alot in my writing now. It taught me what NOT to do.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
My favorite author is Lemony Snicket, the guy who wrote A Series of Unfortunate Events, not too long ago. What I love about this man is how aloof and unique he is. All of his books are literally nothing I have ever read before, his strange quotes at the beginning of each book to his mystery lover, 'Beatrice' and I adore his characters. His villains (Count Olaf comes to mind, for those who have had the pleasure of reading his books) are so interesting; an eye tattoo, strangly cut white hair, his disguises, his sass and attitude; Lemony Snicket is truly the literary phenomenon.
What is your favourite theme/genre to write about?
I love writing comedy. I love to make people laugh. Hilarity and comedic situations are what I'm all about. When I'm at a funeral (I know, I'm despicable), or a sad situation, I need to crack a joke or a say something random to put people out of their misery. I also like writing comedy because I love making funny comebacks in fights and arguements. I can do that in my writing too- and I enjoy it a bit too much.
Do you see writing as a career?
Certainly. I am currently writing a book called 'Adam's Choice' and I am planning to get it published and turned into a movie, all before I am 18. I can really see it becoming a blockbuster hit, for many different reasons.
If you could work with any author who would it be?
I would work with Jacqueline Wilson, the British author. She's funny, and her writing appeals to me, despite her being over 60 years old. She just knows how teenagers think. I suggest you read her books, they're so enjoyable. I would also like to work with Meg Cabot. She'e even funnier than Wilson. Her writing cracks me up, and in her Princess Diaries series, Cabot succeeds in making me think that the main character Mia Thermpolis, actually exists. And I want to meet her! Except she's not real..
Do you use real-life facts based on true stories?
I would, but I can't. In my stories, I'm all about twists, and strange plots. I like to be original, especially recently; I have so many ideas! But because the world is so boring right now, and not like a fairytale movie, I don't. I make it all up. But in my book, 'Adam's Choice' about a Syrian boy in a war who gets adopted by an American woman, was inspired by the movie The Blind Side. I wanted to write about maternal feelings, I thought it would make my readers have a cry, since I usually write comedies and romances, which makes my readers giggle and fart and stuff.
Did you ever think you'd be, where you are right now?
What, awkward and weird? Yeah. I always was, and always will be! No I'm kidding. I don't think so. A few years ago, I had so many dreams; acting, singing, writing,being a famous spokesmodel, artist. But I never thought even one of these would come true. But who knows, maybe this is the first step to my writing dream! What advice would you give to people who "run out of creativity" when writing? I would advise people who suffer from writers' block to watch the news. There is such a diversity of stories, people, cultures, and strange traditions, it will inspire you to write something. I would also create a ''story map''. Write down 5 or 6 settings, 5 or 6 character names, 5 or 6 postions (such as 'man' 'woman' 'baby' 'child' 'teacher' etc) and 5 or 6 situations, from a movie, book, or your head. Then link one of each catergory together, and make a random story. Some ideas will lead to another, and before you know it, you have a story ;)
Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? If so, what do you do about it?
Yes, but it's mostly before I type up a chapter, and not a story. This is because I plan what I'm going to write before hand, making small changes along the way. This is helping me complete my first book 'the Twisted Tales of One Direction'. I try and write when I'm in the mood. Otheriwse, I end up with sloppy, uncoordinated work and I think of better things I could have said later on. What I do about it is wait until I WANT to write. If I dont want to, I end up writing terrible sentences! My advice to those with writer's block would be to make a rough plan before you write the chapter. If you're happy with it, good, write the chapter. If not, leave it, and come back to it later on.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Well, if there's one thing I've learnt in my entire year on wattpad, it's be ORIGINAL. I have read the most amazing stories on wattpad, with bad grammar, but amazing plotlines. And I have learnt to get through this poor grammar. But, unfortunately, some books on wattpad, on the What's Hot list particulary, it's full of poorly structured cliched stories. Apparently, bad writing sells. Read my rants 'Rants, Where I Moan About Everything' and there's alot of useful advice in there. But originality is the biggest thing. Either write something unique and eyecatching for the love of the craft of writing, or don't write at all. Don't write for popularity; it'll get you no where in the end.
Anything fun about yourself you want your fans to know?
I'm pretty ghetto, dawg. Like, I will randomly turn into this alternate sassy person, and I will randomly strut around like I own the place. I will 'snap my fingers in the z-formation' and I will tell you that your high heels are SO ten minutes ago. I also have a tendency to pretend that I'm Justin Bieber. Don't even ask.
How would you describe yourself?
I'm loud, random, annoying, out-going and FABULOUS. Like Sharpay Evans ;) I just love to be the source of laughter. I love to make people smile and laugh, and I will even make myself look like an idiot to do it. I try not to care what anyone else thinks of me. Well, sometimes. I mean, who isn't, right? If you really want to get a sense of my twisted personality, read my rants book on my page. Excuse my wrath, I'm actually pretty friendly :) ...but don't be an imbecile.
Note from hebabdalla: Thank you thank you thank you TheSchoolBoy for the awesome interview! This is my first interview ever! I am so honored, and I feel like I'm on Oprah right now. Your questions were interesting, and thank you for letting me share my love of writing with the people ;)
