Tim sent a car to pick up Vivian when she arrived in Los Angeles. He needed her to look at one location today so they could decide if it was right for the wedding and break up scenes. Vivian reluctantly went with Tim and walked through the location. It was your typical church and reception hall. It could be set up to look like any other wedding location in the world. So it would work just fine.
Tim told her that was all he needed from her today and he'd see her at the studio in the morning.
Vivian headed to her and Jordan's LA home for some much needed rest. She was exhausted. She spoke to security as she went through the gate. They seemed happy to see her. She guessed working security at a empty house wasn't very fulfilling. She made sure to say Thank you for all their hard work.
Vivian was ready to just sit and relax with a good book and put the drama of the last couple days behind her. She took her suitcase to the bedroom. Then she walked to the kitchen and poured herself a glass of wine. She found one of her hidden packs of cigarettes in the back of the junk drawer and took one out and headed to the back patio.
Vivian sat in one of their super comfy patio loungers and lit her cigarette. She only smoked now when she was alone and stressed. The stress of Jordan going on tour and the movie, along with her fighting with Jordan and unplanned trip to California without the kids, this called for a cigarette and a glass of wine for sure. She removed her heels and put her feet up and laid back on the lounger, closing her eyes. She felt the stress begin to melt away.
Her relaxation was interrupted by a call from the front gate. She answered the call, "Yes?"
"Mrs. Knight, there is a delivery guy here. He says he has something for you, from Mr. Knight. He insists that you have to sign for it on Mr. Knight's instructions so he knows exactly when you receive it."
"Okay, do his credentials check out?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Then send him through."
Vivian laid her cigarette in the ashtray, took another sip of her wine and put her shoes back on before heading back into the house to answer the door. When the bell rang, she looked through the peephole and saw a man with a bouquet of roses and a box. Vivian opened the door and stepped back when she saw the man's face.
"Hello Vivian. "
"It's you...."
The next morning Jordan got a call from someone he never expected to hear from, "Hey Jordan, it's Orlando."
"Orlando? What's wrong?"
"Have you talked to Vivian this morning? She never showed up for work today? And no one can get a hold of her. I thought maybe you'd know where she was."
Jordan's mind goes into overdrive trying to process what Orlando is saying. Vivian hadn't called him the night before and he'd gotten no answer when he'd called her. He thought she was either working or sleeping. Now he was worried. "Orlando I haven't talked to her since she was at Logan's waiting for her flight. Has anyone gone by the house?"
"No, I don't think so, not yet. There's security there right? If you could call them and let them know I'm on my way, so they'll let me in the gate, that would be great. I'll call you back when I get there."
He hung up and immediately called Stan, the head security guy. He had been working the day before. He said Mrs. Knight had come home around five and hadn't left again. He said he would be at the gate waiting for Mr. Bloom when he arrives.
It didn't take Orlando very long to get to their house. Stan is at the front gate when he gets there and they follow the drive up to the house. Orlando calls Jordan as he promised he would, when the house into view.
"Jordan, I'm heading up the driveway, there's no car parked out here, but I guess that's not strange since a driver picked her up from the airport. Shit, the front door is wide open Jordan." Orlando walks into the house with Stan. First thing he notices is a dozen roses and a broken vase on the floor along with an empty box. He tells Jordan what he sees. "Fuck Jordan this doesn't look good. Some of the chairs in the dining room are turned over. And there's some broken glass." There's a long pause, Jordan can hear him walking around, then he hears him take a deep breath, "Ummm Jordan we need to call the police and you might want to head out here to California. There's blood on the floor mixed with some of the broken glass. Stan, call 911. And don't touch anything."
Jordan's heart begins to race. What the fuck is going on? Why is there blood on the floor? Shit... "Okay I'm on my way."
Jordan hangs up and makes the arrangements to cancel his show tonight and head out to California immediately. He calls Donnie and explains everything to him, he asks him to go by his house to get the letters he showed him, and overnight them to the house in California. Then Jordan calls Vic and tells him what's going on. Vic wants to come to California but Jordan begs him to stay with the kids. He asks him not to say anything to them. Vic agrees for now.
"Thank you Vic. Can I speak to the kids?"
"Daddy!!!" Layla screams into the phone. "I miss you so much. When are you coming home? Did you know Mommy went to California? Donnie says we get to stay with grandma and grandpa for a few days."
"Hey baby girl. Slow down sweetheart. I miss you too. I won't be home for a little while. Yes I know Mommy had to go work in California. I just wanted to call and see how you guys were doing. And to tell you I love you both very, very much. Layla are you listening to me?"
"Yes Daddy. I love you very much too."
"Okay sweetie, let me talk to Lex. I'll talk to you tomorrow." Before he could say anything else he heard her yelling for Lex.
"Hi Daddy."
"Hey son, how was your day?"
"It was good Daddy. Where's Mommy?"
"Son, she had to go work in California for a few days. You get to spend a few days with your grandparents. It'll be fun." Jordan heard his sweet, sensitive son start to cry. Lex didn't like change, having one parent gone had been hard enough for him, now with both gone, it was just too much for him. "Lex, it'll be okay, son. We'll all be back together soon, I promise. So stop worrying and have fun. I love you son. Talk to you later."
Jordan hoped he wasn't lying to his son.
