5 years later...

Vivian woke up, it was too early to be awake already. The room was still dark but she could hear her husband softly snoring next to her. She looked at the clock next to her side of the bed, it was only 4:30am. Damn dream! She knew she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. And she didn't want to wake him up, so she quietly got up and went downstairs to her office.

She opened up her laptop and began typing. She typed about the dream that had woken her up. It was the same dream she'd been having for years. Maybe if she wrote about it she could get it to stop.

Before she knew it, it was daylight and she could hear someone moving around the kitchen. She was in a writing groove and didn't want to stop yet. She still had time before she needed to get the kids up to get ready for their flight. She wanted to get more written while it was fresh in her mind.

"Vivian?"

She closed her laptop and turned as the door to her office opened, "Hey Vivi, you're going to be late. Want me to wake the twins?"

"Yeah, thanks babe. I'm just going to pack my laptop and I'll be up there. I'm glad I made them pack yesterday. Are you sure you can't come with us?"

"No babe, I told you I'm in the studio all week. I wish I could get out of it. You'll tell everyone I send my love?"

Vivian smiled at him, "I know, but couldn't work wait a week? You've been so busy lately, we never get to go anywhere together. Having a successful husband sure does suck sometimes."

"We'll take some time just the two of us when you get back. Okay? What time did you get up this morning?"

"Oh I woke up early, couldn't go back to sleep. So I came down and started writing." Vivian had her laptop and cords all put into her laptop bag and they headed upstairs together to wake the twins.

The twins were both already up and getting ready. They were both looking forward to their trip. So they weren't the regular pains in the butts to get up. They made Vivian laugh, her kids were such characters.

Vivian went into the bedroom and started getting dressed herself. She put her laptop with her carry on bag and grabbed her clothes she had sat out the night before for the flight.

Vivian was interrupted while she tried to get dressed. She smiled at the feeling of her husband's erection pressed against her backside. "You are so fucking beautiful. Do I have time to make love to my wife before she's gone all week?" He turned her to face him, placing sweet, gentle kisses on her lips. He walked her backwards until the back of her legs hit the bed. He laid her back and he hovered over her. "Okay Lando, but we have to be quick." She giggled as he lept onto her playfully, kissing her neck.

They made love like they hadn't in a while. It was quick, but it was fulfilling. Lately it seemed more like they only did it out of husbandly or wifely duty. Work had picked up for Orlando and he was making his second back to back movie. She had been busy with the twins, who were both busy teenagers in high school. Lex played football and basketball. Layla was a cheerleader and she was taking dance classes and acting and singing lessons. Layla had also done some modeling and been on several auditions. She was really into California living. Lexington on the other hand, he'd been begging to move back to Boston with Jordan. He didn't like California, he was a true Northern boy. Vivian and Jordan promised him they'd all sit and discuss it when they were in Boston for Izzy's graduation this week.

So making just a little time for her and Orlando this morning had felt nice. She'd definitely miss him this week. She had really wanted him with her this week. Be a buffer for her and Jordan's discussion. Vivian knew Lex wanted to be back in Boston, she just wasn't sure she would be okay without her baby boy with her. But he was fifteen now, old enough to make these decisions. She wasn't sure she could keep him from moving in with his dad.

"I've got to get dressed and get going. We can't miss our flight. Can you help get the bags to the car? I'll be down as soon as I'm dressed." She kissed him. "I love you Lando."

"I love you too Vivi."

Orlando drove her and the twins to the airport. After helping them get their bags checked he told the twins bye. Then he kissed Vivian and told her to have fun and enjoy her family. "Tell Jordan I said hello and to keep his hands off my wife."

"Oh hush Lando, I'm pretty sure Lex mentioned Jordan's girlfriend last time they went to visit. You get all your scenes filmed this week, so when I get home you're free for some real husband and wife time okay?" They kissed, embarrassing the kids. "I love you Lando, I'll call when we get to Dad's."

"Love you too Vivi. I'll keep my phone on me. You kids have fun. Love you guys." They said bye to Orlando and all walked to their gate.

"One of you two text your dad and let him know you're about to get on the plane" Vivian told them before she sent a similar text to her dad and Angie. She figured her dad would be picking them up from the airport since she was going to be staying with him. But just in case he forgot, she also let her sister know.

Once on the plane Vivian opened up her laptop to read what she had written. It was the first chapter of her new book. The more she thought about it the more she wondered about that damn recurring dream, how differently would her life have turned out if she'd made a different decision?

If she'd decided to do what the studio asked and gone to that movie premiere with Jordan instead of standing by Orlando's decision to go together and let the world know they were a couple, would she have ended up back with Jordan? Would sitting next to him while watching "themselves" fall in love on the big screen put their brokenness back together?

She'd never know what could have been. She couldn't turn back time. She couldn't change the past five years. She didn't really think she wanted to either. She loved Orlando more than she ever thought was possible. He was a wonderful husband and step father to her kids. They had built a strong foundation for their marriage, having been best friends first. She knew how much he loved her.

Vivian and Jordan had also had a very amicable divorce. They worked out a custody arrangement that worked best for the kids. She could have a conversation with him without fighting. They had remained friendly over the years, and grew closer to having a friendship with each other.

If not for that nagging dream she had been having over the past five years, she might not have ever thought about the "What ifs..."  It was only after having the dream that she ever doubted her relationship with Orlando, and thought about what if she'd gone with Jordan that night.

This very thought is where she got the idea for the title of her new book, "What If". It would be her dream, but the reader wouldn't know it was all a dream until the end. Seemed like the perfect idea for a book. Unless someone got the wrong idea when they read it. She never wanted Jordan or Orlando to ever think she had any regrets in the choices she'd made. Even though she did have days she second guessed her decision. So she'd have to be careful and mindful while writing it.

She wrote the entire flight from Los Angeles to Boston. The words were just pouring out of her. She hated to stop when they touched down in Boston.

She smiled to herself,  proud of what she had gotten written and happy to be home to see her family.
