"Is that all of it?" My dad asked with his hand on the handle of the U-haul. I glanced around making sure everything I had brought here with me was loaded and ready to go. "Yeah dad, that's it" I replied as he slammed the door down making sure it was closed good. "Well I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss you Peter, but I'm happy for you. You know what you want and you go for it. Plus I can already see how much happier you look it's written all over your face already." My dad said with a smile and a pat on the back. "Yeah, in all honesty this place never suited me. I proved I could do it and that's enough for me. I'm on to bigger and better things even if it is a step down... home is where I need to be at the end of the day. Camreigh is what I need, she not only makes me a better person but she just fills this void in me that I never thought could be filled..." I said with obvious blushing. My dad shook his head and laughed. "No son, that's true love and I'm glad you've found it in Camreigh. Don't ever take it for granted, because if your lucky enough to experience what true love really is you got to make sure you hold on to it forever..." I couldn't agree with him more. Out of all the advice or talks he and I have had in the past this is the one that is without question the most meaningful.
After a very long drawn out pause between the two of us. I had to say goodbye and get on the road or the two of us would spark up some other kind of conversation to pass the time. Letting out a sigh I reached my hand out for a handshake "well, I better get going now... I want to make it before dark" I said when my dad grabbed my hand and then pulled me in for a hug. He and I didn't use to share many moments like this but now that he and I had gotten closer they really did mean the world to me. After we said our last goodbyes I started up the car and away I went... I waved back to my dad as I drove out of the Stanford campus one last time and never regretted it.
After a couple of hours of heavy traffic, and cute texts back and forth between Camreigh and I. I had finally hit some quiet road time to where I could call Cam on the phone to help pass the time.
"Hey babygirl" I said when I heard her squeal on the other end of the phone. It made me laugh, and happy. "Your not excited or something are ya?" I said being sarcastic hearing laughter on the other end. "Only a whole lot! Where are you?" She asked as I checked my navigation. "Well pretty much in the middle of nowhere now, but I'm two hours down and only have six left if that counts for anything" she sighed. "Still seems like forever... I miss you so much" -
"And you think I don't? I can't wait to wrap you up in my arms and never let go" I know she was smiling even if I couldn't see it. "I Love you Brown" I said hearing noise behind her. "But I love you more" she said making me shake my head. "Well I'll let you think that" I said with a laugh. I heard the noises again, it sounded like her dad. "What's going on over there?" I asked being nosey. "My dad is watching the stupid game with my uncle and they are driving me crazy!" She said making me laugh. "Well if you can hold on for a little bit longer the only thing that's going to be driving you crazy is me.. but in a good way" and boy was I ready for that too. "Mmmm can't wait hehe, ugh babe I'm sorry can you call me back after this nonsense is over? Its hard to talk with this going on in the background?"
"Absolutely Love you"
"LOVE YOU MORE!" she said as I hung up the phone. For the next few hours I blasted music and did everything to distract myself from the time and it seemed to be working until Camreigh started sending me sexy photos and that just made the trip longer.
She was enjoying every minute of it too. When my surroundings started to look familar again, like I was finally home. I stopped to take me a break and grab a bite to eat. I literally had only a twenty or so miles left til I was finally home and there's no way I could contain my excitement. It just so happened that the gas station I conveniently stopped in had flowers so how could I not get my special lady some. So I grabbed the biggest most fullest bouquet of red roses I could find and loaded back up in the car.
Not soon after I started my car Camreigh's name showed up on my phone again.
"Helloooooooo" I said "are you here? Please tell me you are!?" She gasped. She sure knew how to make me smile til my jaw hurt. "Yeah baby, I'm here. I'm about thirty minutes away now" I said making me have to pull the phone away from my ear as she screamed excitedly. I just laughed it was cute. "I'm getting on the main road, I'll see you in a few babe" I replied as we said our I love yous and hung up.
I loved how no amount of time or distance that came between us even if we had only been away from each other ten minutes that we both still got as excited as we would if we were meeting up for the first time. My heart beated rapidly and my palms would get sweaty. But everytime we looked at one another, it was like falling in love for the very first time over and over and that meant more to me than anything else in the world.
I turned down her street, I started to squirm I was so excited. My mouth was hurting already from all the smiling I was doing before I even laid my eyes on her. "There it is" I said as I pulled into her driveway behind her father's car.
I saw a glimpse of her from the top out of her window. I grabbed the roses I had picked up for her and got out of the car, but before I could even get to her front door. That beautiful brunette girl of mine was standing in front of me wearing my stanford hoodie and some shorts and leaped into my arms like it had been years since we seen one another... there it was that feeling of unconditional true love. Finally my arms were wrapped around hers and we both had a hard time pulling away from eachother."Oh my god babe, your crying" I said wiping the wet mascara from under her eyes as she sniffled and smiled. "So are you!" She said putting me in my spot. "I love you so damn much brown" I said leaning in for that kiss I had waited ten days and counting for. "Oh these are for you" I said pulling out the roses I had bought for her. Her face lit up, "awww don't cry anymore I'm here now" I said hugging her closer. "I'm just so happy!!!!" She said in a cute little sappy voice. I kissed the top of her head, after the somewhat shock of being together again wore off slightly we loaded up back into my car and headed to my new apartment for some much needed time alone and to just finally get a moment to ourselves.
