The most amazing thing to me is the gift of salvation. I used to wonder how somebody that behaved in a certain way could suddenly change and start to function in a new manner. Was it magic? It is still quite remarkable that God can cause such a change on a person. Haven't we ever met somebody and because they acted a little different from what society deems as right, we judged them and thought they'd never change?
Perhaps you have never judged a person. I wish I could say I never did. I judged Christians especially. It always seemed they could get away with anything and then call it the grace of God. I hated associating with believers and those that seemed a little serious in their service to God. It annoyed me most times. I was always angry about something to do with God. I don't remember why I had become so angry with everyone, but I just thought it wasn't fair that somebody was bad for most of their life and when they decided they had become again, they'd be given a chance to start all over. I didn't understand the analogy.
If we received what we deserved, life would be so hard. It was only after I received Christ as my Lord and personal that I began to understand a bit on why my kind of reasoning was wrong. God has not condemned anyone to Hell. Isn't it amazing that after all we did to God, He still decided to forgive us?
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
(KJV)
The only reason that covers our shame and disobedience is in the purpose for which Christ came. Christ had the objective to save mankind and in His saving us, He was not to condemn us. His coming to the Earth was to birth salvation that would perpetuate through those that got saved.
What does it mean really? Have we become as great as Jesus Christ? Certainly not! When we study the scriptures and all that Jesus set out to do, you'd see that most of the decisions He made would favor those that were around Him. Even the first miracle that Jesus performed, it wasn't because He needed wine. Oh no!
Jesus Christ lived for others. He never lived for Himself. I understand in the day and age that we live, there's many motivational speeches about living for ourselves and paying more attention to our needs. Which is important. We should. Regardless, that shouldn't stop us from preaching the word of God to those that we can reach out to.
My very first pastor would do almost anything for me. I have been privileged to have been under the care of great leaders and pastors that wouldn't stop teaching me the word of God until I reached a certain point of maturity. In all honesty, it was difficult to have to listen to the same words and same sermons about growing as a believer. Sometimes I was preached to in the most inconvenient times.
Ps 119:130 ¶ The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
(KJV)
How else can we know God except by hearing the word of God? How else can we understand spiritual activities except through the word of God? Sadly, an unsaved person will never understand the importance of being born again. It's the reason why Jesus had to teach Nicodemus why he needed to be born again. We cannot assume people know stuff that we haven't taught them ourselves.
