1Ki 20:22 ¶ And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.
(KJV)
I am always excited about my salvation, sometimes as excited as a newly-born again believer. When you have been going to church for some time, it can turn into an activity that has no meaning, lacking its spiritual significance.
I wish we could reach a point where prayer was no longer necessary or maybe a point where we never had to battle our flesh. I know, we cannot do without prayer. Giving up on prayer is synonymous with giving up on God. At least, in my opinion.
Some of the battles I had in 2014, are the same battles that I have to hurdle every now and then. It can also seem as though we are always in a battle with something as Christians. There seems to be no place of rest. On the contrary, there is rest in God.
The rest of God is described as the calmness of God or the peace of God. Having the peace of God doesn't substitute for challenges and difficulties that we must face. His peace encourages us to remain confident in Him.
Whatever you have been fighting will never let you go. We live in a world governed by principalities and powers that can only be neutralized by spiritual activities like prayer.
The bible encourages us to keep strengthening ourselves. Once we lose our guard, we become defenseless and unable to handle the pressure of dealing with circumstances or habits that might have been difficult to kill.
The devil is out to attack us and denying his existence only magnifies his power. Everything contained in the bible is essential for our growth in God. We like to read parts of the scripture that seem manageable to live out and exclude what might seem offensive to us.
It's always better to be ready for something than to be unprepared all the time. The word of God prepares us for what is to come. When Jesus Christ came, He came for one thing; to save us from Hell. When He comes again, it's going to be a whole different story.
Why deny Him now if we have been given the opportunity to serve Him? It's always good to be deep thinkers. It helps a lot. A life that doesn't involve Jesus, is useless, to say the least.
Ec 2:17 ¶ Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
(KJV)
I don't know what it took for a man like Solomon to reach this level. Such words encourage me to want to serve God. Solomon tried out everything there is to try out. He was famous. He was rich. He had women. He had power. He had everything that we chase after, yet he wasn't satisfied. He was robbed of happiness. He was rather angry for having so much and not being able to be in a place of bliss.
For a man as wealthy as Solomon, how could you not be happy? He had servants. Wives and mistresses. It'd take him at least a year before seeing the first woman he might have had to his company for the night. That's the man he was. He was a great king with so much power.
Solomon was so angry to the point that he hated life. The enemy frequently attacks us in attempt to steal our joy and peace. When we are always unhappy, it just shows that there's evil spirits lurking around.
Ga 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
(KJV)
One of the manifestations of the Holy Spirit is joy in our lives. The presence of the Holy Spirit brings about happiness and joy. How can we get to enjoy the fruits of the spirit if we are not even rooted in Christ Jesus? If we haven't even attempted to give Jesus Christ a chance.
He is the one that gave us a chance when He died and rose again. How many die and wake up after three days today? How many people would sacrifice everything? Putting their life on hold just for us to be saved from Hell. Who would give up heaven just to be mistreated and despised? Jesus is the only one that did that. Not angel Gabriel. Not angel Michael, but Jesus Christ, our one and true savior!
