Jesus is the Bishop of our souls

An anti-dote cannot work until injected in our veins. Without allowing the injection to pierce our veins, we wouldn’t get any help. Not until Jesus Christ, pierces our stony hearts, no change can ever occur in our lives. As long as we don’t have Jesus, we will ever be defective and without proper help. Yes, we are defective without the presence of Jesus.

I like the part of the verse that says, are now returned unto the shepherd and bishop of your souls. The only reason we were able to return to start with is because of What Jesus Christ did when He died on the cross. You cannot easily go to a place you haven’t been invited to. The only reason you’d be bold enough to attend a wedding ceremony is because of the invitation you received. One doesn’t just wake up gate crushing wedding ceremonies and showing up unannounced.

The droplets of His blood was a public announcement to all sinners. To all the broken. To the shamed. To the incapacitated lot that were in desperate need of a savior. We can only make our way back to Him because His dying invites us at His Bosom. There is room at the cross for you. Though millions have come, there is still room for one. Yes, you are the one that Jesus died for. He did it to deliver us from hell and the evil that perpetuated into our generation tracing back to the Adamic period.

The next thing we see in the scripture is a Bishop of our souls. Jesus is the Bishop of our souls. The Greek word used in that scripture is episkopos which means a superintendent. A superintendent is someone that supervises.

According to Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, to supervise means: to watch a person or activity to make certain that everything is done correctly, safely, etc.

It’s amazing to know that God wants to take care of all our needs. The scripture goes on to say, He is the Bishop of our souls. He takes cares of soulish business. Whatever it is that pertains to the soul, Jesus can take care of it. The soul is the part of a person that contains his mind, will and emotions. Jesus wants to change our lives so much that He is willing to change our will, our thought patterns and our emotions in order that we function in a manner deemed to be right by the Holy Spirit.

We cannot change ourselves. If there’s anything self-help books offer is the idea that we can change our selves. Self-help books are good. They help as the name suggests, but we cannot depend on self-help books for spiritual nourishment.
