Starting over

Starting a new life is always difficult. For most of us, we usually never know where to start from and what it is we are supposed to do. There's so much confusion and for the most part, fear of the unknown.

I always feared my life would be boring if I became a born again believer. If there is anything I learned from my aunts and uncles is that, if you were committed to God, your life revolved around church. Church wasn't my type of thing. It seemed there was never a time to have fun.

I was a party-freak, if there's such a thing. I never imagined a life I'd willingly go to church to spend a few hours with a whole group of people, either having bible study or praying, or singing. There's lots of singing in church. I thought my life would be sucked out by attending a local church.

Many times, our past has a way of making us doubt the possibility of living for God and being in His perfect will. If we really think about all the things we might have been involved in and all the activities we did, the things that shaped our lives, it'd be hard to believe God forgave us.

It's difficult sometimes to put in words the realness of the indescribable love that God bestows upon us. It's not a subject that we can easily understand. Sometimes I wake up contemplating about the life I lived and the life I have now. If it weren't for the love of God, I'd be stuck somewhere in a difficult situation.

Ps 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

(KJV)

Who can understand the love of God? Who can comprehend His mercy? Perhaps it's why the enemy won't easily let us go. To be at a place where Jesus is your master is to be on the side that will always win, regardless of the circumstances. Of course, we will suffer a whole lot of pain and discomfort, but we are adjoined to a team that cannot lose!

Ro 8:31 ¶ What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

(KJV)

If God is on our side, who can be against us? Is God on your side? Is God for you? It'd different when you are not born again. When you are not born again, you don't have much of a spirituality. Real spirituality begins at the point when one gives their life to Jesus Christ. For so many years, I just went to church, but I had never received Christ as my personal savior.

Going to church can be reduced to a social club when one is not born again. Of course church is not a place for the perfect, it is a place where you can meet Jesus and start the best relationship you'll ever have. It's scary, in all honesty. To give up everything and to pursue Christ. What's scarier is living a life without complete surrender to God. When you yield to God, you open up the heavens and you see God in a way you've never seen Him before.

There's nothing better than having a relationship with God. Nothing will ever be better than that. God is the only one who is willing to listen to everything you'll ever want to say.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

(KJV)

When you start a relationship with Jesus Christ, everything you ever did is nailed to the cross. Even if the devil tries to remind you of who you were, which he will, it's the blood of Jesus that will speak for you. The blood signifies cleansing of sins. The blood of Jesus gives us the boldness of entering the presence of God. We have never deserved it, but His blood nullifies all our past sins. Without Jesus, there is no remission of sins.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(KJV)

Jesus is the only way to the Father and without establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ, there is no way we could ever have a relationship with the Father. Not only do we miss out on knowing God, but we deny having the Holy Spirit abide in us.

TheHoly Spirit is the one that changes us and makes us more like Jesus Christ. Wecannot change ourselves. Salvation starts with Jesus and as we grow more intothe person of the son of man, we become familiar with the Holy Spirit, who canonly dwell on born again believers.
