Astrid
would like FaceTime...
accept

The screen loaded and Astrid's face and the familiar background of her room filled Gina's screen. She had already been home for the past hour and if she was being honest the girls call surprised her.

Gina:
Hey

Astrid:
How was your first day at East High

Gina:
Pretty good. I met Carlos.

Astrid:
Seriously ba-

Astrid stopped herself mid through the word. Gina caught it and her heart skipped a beat, if she was being honest she missed the girls affection towards her but she knows for sure she doesn't hold those feelings for Astrid like she once did.

Astrid:
You don't look like it went well?

Gina:
Is that a question or a statement?

Astrid:
both?

Gina laughed at the awkward state the girl was in. If she had to say anything about Astrid, and trust her she could say a lot, she would comment on her ability to be perfectly awkward.

Gina:
Met some new people, made friends and saw Ricky. I think he's dating someone named Nini.

Astrid:
And that matters?

Gina:
No. The dance team captain said
they had a fight so I assumed.

Astrid:
Dance Team?
I though you played soccer.

Gina:
I definitely do but Carlos
and the other captain
want me on the team.

Astrid:
Bueno si tu quieres

Gina:
You would think I picked up Spanish with you.

Astrid:
Yeah you would.
But listen I gotta go, text me okay.

Gina simply nods her head and watches as the call ends. She puts her phone down next to her on her bed and lays down to watch the ceiling.

~

Gina thinks it's extremely weird that she likes this new room so much. It reminds her of home.

Home was with her father. Even if she said it was in New York with her friends. But after spending some time with Ej and Ashlyn and hearing them constantly talk about their families. Their happy families at that it hurt her.

Because Gina may miss New York. And her old friends and yeah she misses her ex girlfriend but the one thing she misses most in the world is her father. And she curses the day that she found out the reason he died.

She still couldn't forgive her mom for keeping the truth from her for so long. Truth was that, her dad and Ricky's had gone out to drink one night. Ricky's dad thought it would be hilarious to leave him stranded at a bar, the same bar that caught fire and burned down with her father inside. She never blamed Ricky, she cared for him. But she did blame his father and when she figured out that he had left town to start a new family, well Gina would be lying if she said she wasn't happy. She just wishes it didn't have to be that way and that Ricky didn't get so hurt.

But who is she kidding. She no longer holds the love she had for Ricky long ago. Not when she's tried to tell him the truth but he simply refuses to see it.

So Gina stares at the ceiling for a long time. Not really sure of what to do when she starts thinks about her dad's death and the reason why he died.

She isn't sure how to feel about it anymore. And up until Astrid she didn't have anyone to talk to, but she admits that she fucked up with girl. She just wished they got over their awkward phase quickly and returned to being just friends soon.

While Astrid wasn't her go to person anymore there was one more person who Gina could count on. Maybe not to talk but to definitely get her mind off of things, and that's exactly what she needed right now.

Gina:
Can I still sing that part of the song?

Austin:
Lol I thought you'd never agree.

Gina:
Send me the lyrics

Austin:
They're a little explicit

Gina:
Shut up before I change my mind

Austin:
;)
