It's A Small World // Gini AU

𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚛𝚝𝚢-𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚎𝚎

The East High Leopards won the game. And that was because Gina had such a fire in her, that during the second half she scored three more goals and they won 7-4.

Of course she was still in a bad mood but winning the game and getting the game ball really put her over the top. Especially because the bleachers started to cheer 'Gina' specifically. She knew she had the whole school behind her. Or at least those at the game.

After the game and after she was showered and changed she went to the parking lot where it smelled slightly of weed and just walked towards her car. It was normal for the parking lot to smell of weed after big games.

She drove to Trade where Ashlyn has texted her that they were at. When she walked in she only saw Ej, Kourtney and Ashlyn.

She was fine with it because she really didn't want to deal with Nini right now. She knew that it wouldn't be a good conversation and she just wanted to move past the situation.

Seb was of course working and so was Momma D, Nini's mom. She said hi to both of them before sitting down with her friends. Momma D came up to them and asked Gina if she wanted what she normally had. Gina shook her head yes and her friends all looked at her smirking.

"Getting to know Nini's parents huh?"

Gina rolled her eyes at Kourtney. It wasn't exactly the night to joke about her and Nini.

"Ina"

Ej called out for her from next to her and she turned to him.

"Yeah bubs"

It was their thing to call each other bubs.
Ej smiled at the nickname before continuing.

"I'm so sorry about Ricky. You know you were right. He has been trying to hurt you and that has hurt me. I don't know what I ever saw in him"

Gina took Ej's hand and looked at Kourtney and Ashlyn before looking at Ej again.

"You don't have to apologize for him. We can't help who we fall in love with bubs. It's okay that you like Ricky and I've seen the way he looks at you. Besides this whole me thing, he's treated you so well."

Ej looked down because he was really at a crossroads. He hated that Ricky treated Gina like that but he was also in love with the boy.

"Ej look at me"

He looked at Gina and she smiled while tightening the grip she had on his hand.

"It's more than okay that you feel the way you do for him. I'm never not going to be okay with that. I support you in everything and anything bubs"

Ej smiled and leaned over to hug the younger girl.

"Now that the sappy moment is over. Ricky really was a ducking asshole wasn't he"
Ashlyn lets out and the whole gang laughs. Including Ej.

"So tell me why is Laurie so protective of you?"
Kourtney questioned it and Ej laughed even more.

"Laurie is like me man. She loves Gina. A lot of Seniors do, she's a badass what can we say"

Gina smiled and playfully flipped her hair.
She laughed and they all smiled at her laugh.

"Yeah she just sees me as a younger her. She's always been so welcoming"

"Even if at first she does flirt with you"
Ej laughed and soon Gina did too.

"Yeah she's a flirt, to everyone"

Kourtney smiled, she was happy that Gina had people to protect her. Even if the girl didn't need protecting, she was just happy she had shoulders to lean on.

"On a more serious note what's the deal with Nini. Like you know she likes you right?"
Kourtney had to ask. Nini's her best friend.

Gina felt a little uncomfortable mostly because Nini's mom was just a few feet away from them. Granted she wasn't paying attention to them but she was still near.

She sighed. But smiled when Seb set down her plate of food and her milkshake.

"Of course I know Nini likes me."

"Oh thank god!" Seb let out and the others laughed.
"D! Can I take my break?" He yelled over to Nini's mom who gave him a thumbs up. He quickly grabbed a chair and pulled it up to the booth. He wasn't going to miss this discussion, he already had to miss the one with Nini since Carlos and Red were with her.

"Like I said of course I know. She's not exactly subtle about it"

Gina smiles thinking about all the comments Nini had made about them. Especially when thinking about that day of the PSAT when jealous Nini kicked in. Gina pretended not to notice but of course she had.

"And honestly we're friends right now. You all heard her that day. I won't lie I do see myself liking her but I can't when I know she may like me but she just thinks of me as a friend, ya know?"

Ashlyn wanted to slap Gina. They all did. Because they all knew Nini just said that to get them off their backs and because Gina says it all the time, they're just friends.

Ej however, he just smirked.
He just knew that Gina was falling for Nini, it was obvious. They all saw it.

" You sure it's just friends?"

Gina stopped eating her fries to look at Ashlyn.

"Yeah? Why?"

Seb laughed at the girl. He remembered when he was like that with Carlos and if anyone had met Carlos they knew he wasn't subtle at all.

"Didn't look like that when y'all almost kissed"
Seb let out and the others looked at Gina shocked.

"You've almost kissed!"
Kourtney practically yelled. How Nini had failed to mention that was beyond her.

"Okay once but it wasn't anything we were just to close to each other"

Gina lied. Of course it was more than once but she figured Seb saw them in the schools parking lot the day of the PSAT. It was the only time it had happened in public and Ricky and Ej saw too.

"Hmm not so much of a friendship thing to do huh"

Gina rolled her eyes and muttered a quick whatever. Her friends laughed and besides everything she was thankful to have them with her, even after everything that, that crazy day put them through.
