"And that's break people!" Kourtney clapped her hands and we all looked around smiling at each other, these past few weeks with the dance team has felt amazing. And for once I felt that connection to dance that I hadn't felt in years.

I watched as EJ and Ashlyn stood by the door of the dance room clapping at the performance we had just finished.

"You all did so well guys! Homecoming doesn't know what's hitting them this year" Carlos exclaimed and he quickly turned to talk to Sebby. Who I had also shared some words with but didn't really know. Sweet kid though.

"What is homecoming? I thought it was a football game?" A freshman boy, Elliot, asked Carlos and he rolled his eyes. I smiled, sure I was new but Carlos already knew me and he didn't want to pass up an opportunity to show some attitude to an underclassmen.

"Actually we have different homecomings here. Y'all don't get to do the first one which is usually girls soccer but this year it was football. Newbies get to perform after the first homecoming" Kourtney called out from across the dance room and at this point all the dancers had stopped to listen in.

"You all saw our performance for footballs homecoming and if I do say so myself, we killed it" another member, Mallory, exclaimed. I'm assuming she was already part of the team for a while.

"This homecoming is our girls soccer. Which lets give a hand for our girl Gina who's starting her first game as an official East High Varsity Leopard!" Kourtney yells and the squad gives me some applause.

"Which unfortunately means she's going to be in that locker room during half time, but we're all performing to ensure that our girl wins" Carlos adds on and the squad cheers.

Like I said I feel like I found my place here. I'm doing what I love, both of the things I love. And somehow i'm still academically eligible.

"Well well look at her" EJ looks at me as I walk up the table. The gang, I guess that's what we are now, decided to hang out after my dance practice. There's this really amazing cafe, that's also a music store and miniature arcade, it even has a stage, and it's somewhere that practically all East High students go to, Trade.

"Wearing her East High Leopards gear. I'm sorry do we know her?" Ashlyn continues and I have this goofy smile on my face.

"Guys shut up"

"No no, we see that varsity jacket on" EJ pointed out.

At try outs the soccer coach told me and I was good enough for varsity and Kourtney and Carlos immediately put me on their varsity squad. Which meant that the school gave me three different variations of the bomber jacket. All with Porter in the back; a dance one, a soccer one, and one with the East High 'E' on my left chest and the dance and soccer logos on my right and left shoulders. Varsity was underneath the 'E'.

I felt proud. To have my name shown off in not one but two sports. I didn't feel proud for myself, I felt proud that I associated my dad's name with positivity after his death. I know I talk about it a lot, but being back in Salt Lake does that to you.

"Gina! Hey girl!" Our waiter, which was Seb, came up to our table.

"Let me guess veggie burger with fries and a strawberry shake with soy for you Gi, a double cheeseburger with extra fries and a chocolate shake for EJ and for Ashlyn our signature club sandwich sliced in half toasted with fries and a vanilla shake"

I scoffed impressed at the boy. He really knew our orders before even handing us menus. We just nodded.

"Cool my work mate will bring them to you as soon as they're done. Oh and Gi good luck on the game tomorrow but you probably won't need it" Seb tells me and winks before walking away.
