Nini was in her room, deep in thought. She didn't understand why she had lashed out on Gina. She didn't understand why Gina was still so afraid of being with her. She just didn't understand it all.
So Nini moved to do the one thing that she was good at. Songwriting.
She had been writing this song since she left Gina in that parking lot. She wanted Gina to be as vulnerable with her as Nini could be with Gina. She just didn't realize that the way they were vulnerable differed completely.
" Hey, you there
Can we take it to the next level, baby, do you dare?
Don't be scared
'Cause if you can say the words, I don't know why I should care "Nini wrote from within herself and managed to string together words that weighed so much. But they weren't only towards Gina, they were towards herself too.
She knew she needed to fix her attitude towards her and Gina. She needed to be more accepting because what she never wanted Gina to do is what she ended up doing.
She didn't know exactly how to fix it. She pushed Gina into feeling something that she knew she wasn't ready to feel.
And Gina had been through so much with feelings already. And she saw her mom break down when her father was suddenly gone. Nini knew Gina was scared of love because it meant risking losing someone in the end. She pushed Gina into coming to terms with her feelings rather than her realizing them herself.
While the song was for Gina, she knew it represented her too. Because she didn't want just one part of Gina, she wanted to experience everything Gina cake with. But Nini knew that she needed to let go of her own pride, otherwise she wouldn't be able to be close to Gina.
The knock on Nini's door came to her surprise. She thought both her moms would still be at Trade working. Or spending time with one another.
She uttered a quick and faint,
"Come in"
to whoever it was that knocked in her door. Part of her hoped it was Gina. But she knew that wasn't true, Momma D had long texted her that Gina and their friends were at Trade."Hey lovebug"
Momma C stepped into the room and Nini gave her a smile at the nickname. She knew that her mom knew something was up. Otherwise, she wouldn't have used the nickname that was given to her almost ten years ago."Hi momma"
Her mom moved to sit next to her on her bed and she pushed the keyboard away a little bit. She pulled Nini into a tight hug and then kissed her forehead.
She looked down and grabbed the notebook that Nini had been using to write her latest song.
"You gonna tell me what's up baby?"
Nini laid down on the bed and let out a huff.
"Why is love so hard! Like can't it just be I like you, you like me and that's it, we're together"
Momma C smiled at her daughter and laid down next to her.
" I wish it were that simple. But trust me all the fights and pinning it's worth it in the end."
Nini turned to look at her mom.
"How do you know?"This time Momma C let out a laugh and sat up.
"It's why you're mom and I are together now."
