Gina was walking the streets of New York City again. But this time they were empty and misty. They looked dead. And she was sure she wasn't in a real world, because New York was never dead. It's called the city that never sleeps for a reason.Gina was beyond confused but she kept walking. Until magically she appeared at a gazebo in the middle of a lake. Of course she was confused, who wouldn't be. But by now she had figured that all of this must be part of some sort of dream.
Gina walked up the steps and there she saw him. Her dad.
Immediately tears fell and she didn't expect it. She hadn't seen him in years and seeing his face again, somewhat in person made her break. She ran to him and hugged him as tight as she could. And she felt his arms around her squeezing just as tight.
"Hi babygirl"
Gina sobbed into her dad's arms.
"Daddy. You're here"He hugged her tighter before pulling away and wiping the tears his daughter had shed.
"Tell me princess. What's going on?"They sit down and Gina starts talking to him about everything. About how he could finally rest in peace because she found his killer. How much her mom and her missed him. How much she missed him. About the move to New York and then back to moving to SLC. Gina didn't hold anything back because it had been years since she'd seen her father.
She felt like she had been talking for hours and her dad just listened and made jokes when it was appropriate. She missed him so much. And she couldn't believe that she was living and breathing and well so was her dead.
She did take notice of his uneasy facial expression when she finished. So she reached out and held his hand.
"Princess tell me one thing"
"Of course daddy"
"Are you in love ?"
Gina looked at him shocked. She hadn't mentioned Nini. She didn't want to after what just happened.
"You wouldn't be here if you weren't. Tell me what's going on"
And so she started her rambling once more. She told him about everything that happened between her and Nini. Even when she knew that her dad would tell her that he expected better from her. Her dad was extremely understanding and he offered Gina a lot of advice. It gave Gina clarity on a lot of what was happened between Nini and her. But most of all it made her heart happy that she could finally tell someone how she really felt.
"Why did you ask?"
"Because Gigi. You wouldn't be here if you didn't need my help. Tell me does she make you feel how mom made me feel?"
Gina didn't think twice before nodding her head.
"Then you love her my sweet baby girl. And I'm sure this girl loves you too...Oh god how grown up you are now."
Gina laughed at the statement from her dad before shaking her head. She really didn't want to be grown up, she wanted to go back to the era where she still had him. Where he was still alive.
"But daddy she just said no"
"Baby she said no to the dance. Not to you. You have to remember that she may just be making sure you truly want this between you two. Because last time she made a mistake of pushing you into something you weren't ready for"
Gina nodded her head at her dad's words.
"Trust me Gigi. Fight for this one. As your father I don't like anyone you date, it's just my job. But this one... you have my approval"Gina kept hearing, "you have my approval" over and over again. Her dad slowly started to fade away and she desperately tried to make him stay. When he finally disappeared and everything turned black she jumped up.
She struggled to catch her breath and wiped some tears that she had let out while dreaming. She looked over and saw that her alarm clock read four am.
There was no way she was still going back to sleep after that. She laid down for a few more minutes before constantly hearing, " you have my approval" again.
Gina immediately got up. She had to do something and she knew exactly what to do.
She had to show Nini that she was ready. She wasn't scared anymore.
