History repeated itself as I was once again keeping my distance from Evan. I had been spending more time with Lilith, Damion, and Kieran. Nathaniel was busy making friends with the rich and famous of Elbridge, and Evan, well, Evan needed some alone time with his family.
With Lilith, Damion, and Kieran by my side, I seemed to be invisible to Teigan and his friends. Having someone to sit with in the cafeteria, and in classes, reminded me of what life was like before I moved to Ivingly. I had friends. Friends that I made in a place where people were tortured and made people wish they weren't alive. Am I talking about school or The Facility? The world may never know.
It was about three weeks after Evan and Nathaniel had come to Ivingly when I saw the strangest thing.
Nathaniel, cane and everything, walking alongside Tiegan. The two looked like they had been best friends since birth. It was like watching a vulture and a snake move through the kingdom. Nathaniel was an invasive species, as Evan would put it. I quickly put my things in my locker, took out the books that I needed, and turned to leave, but then Nathaniel called my name.
"Yes, Nathaniel?" I reluctantly turned towards him and the nightmare posing as a person. Everyone in the hall had gone to class by then, so it was just us three.
"I just wanted to make sure that you were coming to the party Tiegan and I are co-hosting. It's at his house, since Evan won't let me use his." Nathaniel rolled his eyes, like Evan was being super rude or something.
"Evan has every right to not want you to host a party in his house. Parties get too wild, and you can break a lot of things." I did my best to not make eye contact with Tiegan. "I'm not a fan of parties, so I'm sorry but I can't go. I have to get to class."
I heard Nathaniel sigh as I shut my locker. "You're going to have to learn to live a little."
"This party wouldn't be fun without you." I could hear the smugness in Tiegan's voice. Goosebumps formed on my skin, and even though my long sleeves and pants covered most of my skin, I still felt super exposed. I gripped my books tightly.
I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out. I couldn't even look at him. I just hurried off into the direction of my next class, knowing they were watching me.
I practically fell into my seat. The girl who sat at the desk next to me leaned over.
"Are you alright, Yvonne?" She asked.
"Yeah, Bethany, I'm good. Thanks."
Bethany Hills, Tristan's ex girlfriend and someone who was starting to become a friend. I was hesitant to make friends, knowing how some people in the school had alternate agendas when it came to being friends with me. But Bethany had told me how she knew Tristan and I were friends before, well, you know, and how when I...died...it really messed Tristan up.
"I had wanted to talk to him, but we had been broken up for a while and I don't know...I guess I just didn't know what to say to him."
I understood what she meant, and told her that there was nothing wrong with just giving someone space.
"So, are you going to the party?" She asked.
I leaned my head back and groaned. "Is this party the only thing people are talking about right now?"
She nodded, her green eyes glimmering. She brushed her red hair back and sighed. "I need to find out what I'm wearing."
"I don't need to find out what I'm wearing, because I'm not going." I opened my math book and set it on the table. It made a loud noise, which caused some kids to look back at me.
