It happened before everything else.

Samuel snapped his fingers, angry at what he heard. He always does that when he can't forget about something that pissed him off.

"What's wrong, Kuya?" Simon raised his brows looking at his angry brother.

Simon always had that soft spot in his brother's heart, as with all Dalton, only Simon was the only one who could enter Samuel's heart and mind, and Samuel allowed that. It's just that, they all get under his skin, but Samuel won't let it get further than that.

But that might change though. We overheard that conversation between Sophia Garduce and her step-mother, she knew she was fucked up.

Simon shrugged when his brother didn't answer his question, instead he grabbed his chisel again and resumed his carving on the log with a few inches of the size he had acquired from Esmertillo earlier, their standing ambassador to the mansion.

Simon loves to carve but he has no place to do that, which is why he rages in Samuel's studio room and spreads his energy. Samuel, meanwhile, did not care for his youngest brother, only to clean up his mess.

It was all peace and quiet that Samuel wanted, for him to sketch freely. There are so many frames and pins on the walls of Samuel's studio room, that only he and Simon can see. The contents of frames, and pinched sketchpads? All of them are sketches, finished and not, of Adelaide Garduce.

From that time on, Samuel first saw Adelaide, the only child of the elite Garduce couple in the town of Pintados, where they lived.

From the time he recognized it as a child, he knew he could accept all the commands and actions that were placed on his shoulders, only to have Adelaide eventually, all the hard work.

In fact, even though he was able to pursue his passion for drawing and painting, since he was a child he was telling her the things he would do in the future.

Hardly, even though Simon could no longer do his dream public studio, because of the role he had played.

It is difficult, even if none of his dreams come true because of his family's obstructions. Well, eventually Adelaide should have him.

His three and two years younger brothers, Seth (three years) and Stephen (two years) always mocks him about being tied up and caged up in the family. They never respected him, or treated him older even though he is.

Even with the cold war between them, Samuel simply could not fight the fair because he knew what he was going to do, and condemning the younger would upset the older men. Only Samuel is doomed to the end.

Also, Seth and Stephen, they couldn't be criticized, they were devils in Samuel's eyes. Although they had been punished several times by the father, they still opened their eyes to Samuel, mouths shut.

Samuel would admit it, yes, it's no fun at all. And that's what's Seth and Stephen's problem with him. The fact that he's older, and no-fun at all... and the fact that he gets in their way.

"Kuya, you know, just let them be for once, don't get in their way—that will save you your pretty face. You know Kuya Seth and Kuya Steph, they don't listen."

Samuel laughed at what was being heard. As if for a moment, he lost the weight he felt because of what his youngest brother had said.
