Homecoming week had snuck up on Nayeli quickly. Between cheer, studying for her midterms, practicing ballet and her social life, she was exhausted.

She'd managed to avoid most parties this week and had only been to on campus events, ones that were in the public and she could easily get out of if she got uncomfortable, but tonight, somehow and some way, Samara and Aubrielle convinced her to go to a party party.

She was more than a little apprehensive. While she didn't have social anxiety, her anxiety still did prevent her from going to a few parties while she was in high school. She didn't want to be around so many people in tight spaces, she was convinced something would go wrong and she'd regret it.

But breaking out of her shell was the goal.

She talked to her cousins, who had already frequented parties this semester and they told her to make sure she knew at least two people there. That way there was always a chance for her to find someone if she lost a friend. This was good advice for their cousin, specifically because they knew she was prone to panic if she was alone and had no one. The last thing they wanted to hear was that she had a panic attack attack at a party, alone.

She had just returned to her dorm from her last class of the day, and Samara was due home shortly after. It was only 4:30, and the party wasn't until 9, so she changed into her lounge clothes, climbed into bed and resumed the netflix show she was watching the night before. She made sure to grab a bag of parmesan popcorn too, her favorite.

It was some murder documentary that she was so invested in, she almost missed her phone ringing.

She grabbed it without even checking and pressed the green button, hearing a FaceTime call connect.

"Wassup mamita," she heard, from a voice she'd come to love hearing. Armani had become one of her best friends over the weeks. Between he, Samara and Aubrielle, Nayeli had a fantastic support system.

Of course she couldn't deny the fact that she was undeniably attracted to him, but she honestly loved his company more than anything else. He was so easy going and calm, very easy to talk to and he got along with her friends, which was most important to her. She didn't want to bring anyone around that made them even the least bit uncomfortable.

She had learned more about him, and she felt more comfortable to share things about her with him as well, and she liked that he always seemed genuinely interested in what she had to say. He thought all her siblings were adorable, and he showed her pictures of his sisters as well, and shared that he was, in fact, adopted. She could relate only a tiny bit since her mom adopted her, but not as nearly as much to him being in the system for almost two years.

They didn't really talk much about it, but she figured, like most things, it'd come with time.

"Hiiii," she picked up her phone, pausing her show.
