4 Weeks Later.

"Baby, you ready?" Armani asked Nai.

Today, she was starting grief counseling at her job. Hailee's funeral was a week ago, and Nai felt like she wasn't recovering properly from it at all. Although she cried much less, and she was doing better eating, her dreams persisted. She had talked to her aunt Saija on the phone a lot, and Saij suggested using the resources available to her at work, since this was a common thing.

"I think so," she mumbled, looking at her side profile in the mirror. The fact that she was actually pregnant was astonishing to her. She felt like at this time in her life a blessing like a baby wasn't something she deserved to have. She felt like someone who was blessed to conceive should be happier than she was right now. She tried to ignore that voice in her head but sometimes it won.

Armani was so happy, it made her smile. She was happy to a degree, but she had yet to feel that connection with the baby and grow attached, simply because of was warring in her mind constantly.

"My baby lookin real healthy," he grinned, trying to cheer her up. "Can I kiss it?" he asked excitedly, and she couldn't help but nod yes. He easily bent down to his knees and lifted up her shirt, seeing her tiny pudge and feeling butterflies. He pressed a kiss to her belly and rubbed his hand over it, while Nai rubbed his head.

She wished it was easier.

She didn't want anyone thinking it was too soon for them to be having a baby, either. She knew what she wanted and she'd been wanting it for a long time. Six years had gone by since they decided to be together and the fact that she waited this long was a good amount of time in her opinion. Yes they just became legally married but they'd been happily in love for five years now, she thought, besides the very bad state of her emotions, six years in was a perfect amount of time.

"You wanna get going mamas? Or you wanna wait?" he asked, standing back to his feet but leaving his hand on her belly.

"We can go, babe. Thank you for coming with me, I know you've never been to therapy with me before," she sighed. "I don't want you thinking this is something you can fix alone okay? I gotta put work in too," she said more so for herself.

Nayeli needed Armani. That was a fact, she didn't think she could get anywhere without his support, but she knew from experience, healing was her responsibility. It wasn't his.

"I know baby," he kissed her forehead. "I'm still gone stand right here with you till you get back, I promise you that," he said.

"T-thank you, babe,"

"Always, mamas," he smiled, reaching his hand out for her to take, which she did.
