Landon
Dad and I stood on opposite ends of the kitchen, looking at each other.
"Why?" Dad asked.
I furrowed my brows.
"Why would you become involve with drugs?" Dad questioned me.
"I don't know. I started dancing, and it escalated. I couldn't stop it," I answered.
"Landon, we raised you and your sisters with the intention that your life would turn out well," Dad reasoned.
"Who's life? Yours or mine?" I questioned, looking at my dad.
"What?" Dad asked, confused.
"You want us to follow your footsteps, not bothering to ask what we want," I said.
"That's not true," Dad told me.
"Isn't it? I went to school to study business. I don't even like a business. That's all you," I said, raising my voice.
"That's absurd," Dad remarked.
"See, that's what I mean. The minute we defy you, you scoff at us. Lexie defied you, and you punished her," I exclaimed.
"That was a different circumstance," Dad snapped.
"What makes it different? The fact that you can't control us? The almighty Vincent can't control his children!" I shouted.
My defiant behavior took my dad back. He looked at me. I frowned.
Dad crept toward me. "If keeping you and your sisters' safe means holding tight, then so be it. Landon, you have no idea what men like Rafe are capable of doing to you. He's a monster that will rip you apart and destroy you. If that makes me a terrible person to keep that from happening, then so be it," Dad said in a low voice.
We faced each other.
"I will keep my family safe and do whatever it takes to make that happened. If you hate me, then I hope it's long, lasting hate," Dad said firmly.
I looked at my dad. I saw the ruthless person emerge.
"I was there the day that your mother fought to save you and the day you were born. I will not let anyone take that from me, including drugs. When this is over, you will get proper treatment," Dad told me.
I furrowed my brows.
"While you were living the high life, you missed an important aspect of the business. Never let your enemies get close to you, or they will destroy you," Dad informed me.
I said nothing.
"I can't keep you from making mistakes, but I can keep someone from destroying you. Count on it," Dad said, leaving the kitchen. I stood there.
*******
VincentI left the kitchen to see Cruz, a guy, and a girl standing there, looking around and whistling. I walked over to the guy and girl as Cruz stepped aside. I backed both up against the wall.
"If something happens to my son, you will not like me," I warned the guy and girl who looked at me shocked. "You have a week to finish your business with my son; then I will return for him."
I left the beach house as Cruz followed me. I got into the backseat, and Cruz drove me home. Landon lost weight and a shell of himself. Rafe is a dead man.

LandonI came out of the kitchen to see Asher and Quinn standing there.
"Thanks a lot, you cowards," I remarked.
