Vincent
Sergio, Joe, Cruz, and Lacey stood around the island as I leaned on it with my palms.
"It's a suicide," Joe said, breaking the silence.
"I agree," Cruz added.
I gave Cruz a look.
"Or not," Cruz replied.
"Well, I refuse to allow a man like Rafe controls my life," Lacey announced.
I gave Lacey a skeptic look.
"These are our children, and I want them to have a future. It doesn't include threats," Lacey told me.
"Don't be stubborn," I warned her.
Lacey leaned on the island and narrowed her eyes. "Do not order me like your employee. We abolished that contract years ago," Lacey reminded me.
"Great, my wife is acting defiant," I grumbled.
"I've always been defiant. Is this new to you?" Lacey questioned me with a look.
"No," I mumbled.
"Then, I settled it. I will meet Rafe and finish it," Lacey informed us.
"Over my dead body!" I yelled.
"Keep it up, and that will happen sooner than you expect," Sergio mentioned.
We all looked at Sergio strangely.
"Women strong-willed like Lacey will bury you. I know, I married a woman like that," Sergio reasoned.
I rolled my eyes. I didn't need this issue. I wanted my family safe. I was getting resistance from my loving wife.
Lacey moved towards me. "Vincent, I know you worry about me, but if we plan this right, I will stay safe. If we do this, then we can bring Landon home," Lacey reasoned.
I looked at Lacey with concern. I reached over and took her hands in mine. "We went so much and to know a man like Rafe is threatening our children angers me. Our family deserves peace. We deserve peace from this madness," I spoke directly.
"I know, but we won't have that peace until we finish this together," Lacey reasoned. She released my hands and put her palms on the side of my face. "When we met, I never thought my life would turn out this way, but it did. You gave me a chance to achieve my dreams and love me when I had no one."
"Wait. What?" Joe asked, confused.
We looked at Joe.
"Except for you," Lacey said with a look.
Joe grinned, and Cruz rolled his eyes while Sergio chuckled. I shook my head. I looked at Lacey.
"Vincent, you gave me something I desperately needed," Lacey told me.
"What's that?" I inquired.
"You gave me a family whom I love dearly. You made me a mother, which is the best gift ever. That's why I need to do this. I refuse to allow anyone to take that from me. They did it once, they will not do it again," Lacey told me with a fire in her eyes and a fierceness in her tone.
I knew that tone because it's how I feel when people attempt to take anything that belongs to me. Rafe made several mistakes, but his ultimate one was threatening my family.
"You will not do this alone. If Rafe wants you or the kids, he will go through me first. Business is business, but love is love," I whispered with intent.
"Well, Rafe signed his death warrant," Cruz mumbled. Joe and Sergio nodded in agreement.
I'm a man of many qualities, but with my family, I will give my life for them. When someone threatens or attempts to harm them, I will finish them. Rafe Montaga will learn what it's like to come after my family.
