Landon

I arrived at the club with Tyler as he showed me around it. We went into the back, and Tyler led me to a dressing room. I walked inside, checking out the place. I found clothes and pulled an outfit out, looking at it.

"What do you think?" Tyler asked.

I put the outfit back and looked at Tyler. "Do you always wear skimpy outfits?" I asked.

"Only for private dances in the VIP room," Tyler asked.

I stood there as a woman entered the dressing room. The woman dressed in a business suit with her hair pulled up into a clip. Her makeup and manicure were pristine.

"I see we arrived," the woman mentioned.

I looked at the woman curiously.

"Candace, you remember Landon? He's the new dancer who you hired," Tyler mentioned.

"Yes, I remember," Candace replied, smiling.

"I was showing Landon around so that he's familiar with everything," Tyler said.

"That's fine, but Landon has to learn how to dance and the rules," Candace said. She looked at Tyler. "You can leave us alone. I will handle it now," Candace said as Tyler nodded.

Tyler started walking and mouthed good luck to me. What in the world?

Candace walked towards me. "We have two rules in this club. Rule number one does whatever the customer wants. Rule number two is keeping your mouth shut. If you follow the rules, your life will be happy. If you don't, then you don't want to know the result.

I looked at Candace and furrowed my brows.

"Follow me," Candace instructed, waving her pointer finger at me. I followed Candace out of the dressing room, and we walked to another place. She opened the door, and we went inside to find guys learning how to dance.

"That's Mike; he teaches the guys to dance. He will be your instructor. We don't need you to look like an ape," Candace remarked.

"I know how to dance," I said.

"Not this way, you don't," Candace told me. "Now, onto the next part."

I followed Candace to another room as a guy was performing oral on a girl. What in the hell?

"Flame, when you finished, we have a recruit for you to teach," Candace told the girl.

"I told you not to bite," the girl said, smacking the guy. She stood up and pulled her skirt down. "I hope this one knows what he's doing because that one will scare off the customers." The girl pointed to the guy on the floor, rubbing his head.

"I assure you than our newest employee will be much better," Candace replied.

Candace left the room, and I followed her. She strutted through the club, exuding confidence, and people greeted her. She led me to an office.

"Please, sit," Candace offered as I sat down in a chair in front of her desk. She sat down in an office chair. She handed me forms. "Fill out these forms. It's your responsibility to obtain a dancer's card and file taxes."

I filled out the forms as a man entered the office. "Landon, this is Asher. He works the door and makes sure the dancers have everything they need. He will help you," Candace informed me.

Shit, I knew who this guy was. What was he doing in a place like this?

I finished the forms and stood up. I followed Asher out through the back. We walked to an SUV and got in, then Asher pulled out of the parking spot.

I sat there in silence as Asher drove.

"It surprises me that you're working in a strip club, considering who your family is," Asher mentioned, breaking the silence.

"My roommate, Tyler, works here. He said it would be exciting," I answered.

Asher glanced at me as I looked at him. He focused on the road.

"Yeah, well, Tyler says a lot of things," Asher said.

"Why are you working here? Did Daddy not buy you the latest model car?" I asked. My tone laced with sarcasm.

"My parents kicked me out," Asher mumbled. "No money means no school."

"Can't you afford school now?" I asked.

"I work too many hours," Asher said, parking the car. We got out of the vehicle and went into a building. I paid for a dancer's card, and the person handed it to me.

We left and drove to another place.

"Stay here," Asher ordered me, getting out of the car.

After a few minutes, I got out of the car and went into the place. I walked until I heard noises coming from a doorway. I walked over to it, and my eyes widened.

"I told you to knock that shit off," Asher yelled, grabbing drugs off a table.

"Come on, Ash! I need my fix, man!" The junkie screamed.

"You're lucky it's me that showed up and not Rafe," Asher told the junkie.

"I swear after this time, I will check into rehab," the junkie pleaded.

"Get your shit together, Marcos, or you will find yourself in a body bag. Get clean or don't return to the club," Asher ordered.

I stood there and watched Asher go into the bathroom, then heard the toilet flush. Asher emerged and saw me. He walked over to me and grabbed my jacket, escorting me out of the building.

I pulled away. "What the hell was that?" I asked.

"That is the downside of the business," Asher told me. "The dancers fall prey to drugs or diseases. Landon, I don't know why you're here, but don't fall into the trap," Asher warned me.

We got into the car, and Asher took me back to the club, dropping me off at my car. I got in and pulled out. I drove back to the apartment.

I walked inside, and my phone rang. I answered it.

Landon.

"Hey, Dad," I said.

Your sister is coming this weekend.

"Yeah, Lexie told me," I said.

We're having a family dinner. We'll see you then.

"Yeah," I said, hanging up.

I had a feeling that my life will flip upside down, taking this job. I didn't understand why Asher was working in a place like that and who is Rafe?
