Landon
I woke up and heard the water. I got up and walked over to the window to see it raining. I watched the rain hit the panes of glass and drip down. I never paid attention to rainstorms.
I leaned on the sill with my palms, watching it rain. I saw a flash of lightning and moved away from the window.
"Not a fan of storms?" Quinn asked me.
I turned and glanced at Quinn. "No," I answered.
Quinn entered the bedroom and walked over to me. "You can tell hell how close a storm is with counting between the sound of thunder. Growing up, I would count when we had a storm," Quinn told me.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I knew after the storm passed, a rainbow would appear, and that was my favorite part," Quinn answered.
I stood there in a pair of sweats, looking at Quinn. She had a unique way of looking at situations.
"What?" Quinn asked with a look.
"How do you do that?" I asked.
"Do what?" Quinn questioned.
"Look at things the way that you do," I answered.
"Landon, it's not difficult. I learned a long time ago that life is what we make it. Plus, you learn how to take care of yourself when the people you count on, don't," Quinn said, referring to her parents.
"Have you spoken to your parents?" I asked curiously.
"What would I say to my parents? Thanks for trying to sell me? Yeah, I don't think so," Quinn replied.
"It was tense at my house after that incident," I mentioned.
"I remember," Quinn said.
I walked over to the bed and sat down on the side of it.
"I thought about my dad," I said.
Quinn walked over to me and sat down next to me on the bed.
"I don't want my dad to hate me," I mentioned, looking at Quinn.
"I don't think your dad will hate you. It's difficult to know that our children want dreams of their own. What I remember about your dad is that he loves you and your sisters," Quinn reasoned.
I looked at Quinn, and she gave me a reassuring smile. If I could speak to my dad, I would feel better.

VincentI sat at the kitchen table and rubbed my face. I felt arms wrap around me. I placed my hands on Lacey's arms.
"How much longer?" I questioned, feeling frustrated.
"I don't know, but I do know that Landon is safe," Lacey reassured me.
I turned and looked at Lacey. "How can you be so sure?" I question.
Lacey removed her arms from my shoulders and sat down in a chair next to me.
"Because Joe and Sergio are taking care of the situation. I trust both to protect our son," Lacey reasoned.
"It's frustrating. How did we miss the signs?" I asked, showing the frustration in my voice.
"Because Landon hid it. Vincent, you learn to hide things that you don't want people to know. I know, I did it for years, and so did you," Lacey said, referring to our situations when we met.
"I didn't know who to trust," I reasoned.
"Because no one gave you a reason," Lacey mentioned.
