Landon

Today I was thirty days sober and could receive visitors. I went to the visitor room to see my parents waiting for me. I smiled and walked over, hugging both of them.

"You look well," Dad commented.

"I feel better," I said.

We sat down in chairs.

"Before you both say anything, I want to apologize," I mentioned.

"Landon," Mom said.

"Mom, it's part of my twelve-step program. We must make amends for our behavior and accept responsibility for our addiction. I blamed you both for my life choices and didn't accept responsibility for my actions. The truth is, I decided to become a dancer and take drugs," I explained.

"Landon, we understand that you struggled. Your mom and I discussed the matter thoroughly. I tend to forget that you aren't me and expected you to follow in my footsteps. For that, I apologize," my dad said.

I looked at my dad. I knew this situation was difficult for him.

"But I decided to take a different path. I have to own my mistakes," I explained.

"Why did you involve yourself with becoming a dancer?" Mom asked.

"I had this roommate and tagged along to see what he did. The first time I was on stage, it was exhilarating. The admiration of women was nothing I ever experienced. The problem is that you crave it, and your nights and days run together. It starts with something to keep you awake, then you take something to counteract the uppers," I explained.

"I wish you would never have got involved with this life," Mom said, feeling regretful.

"I had a choice; you didn't," I mentioned.

Mom looked at me with surprise.

"I know about your escort days. I didn't understand why you did it, but I do now," I reasoned.

"It's not a life I wanted. Rafe and Carter lied to me, luring me into a business that no one should do," Mom explained.

"I know, but sometimes we don't get a choice. I had to learn to differentiate between the two," I said.

I looked at my mom as she looked at me. My mom is incredible. She came from nothing, fell into a trap, and escaped. I admired her for it.

My parents stayed until visiting hours ended. I could have visitors, but the rehab center limits you. They don't want the patient overwhelmed. It was lovely to have this time with my parents. I had a feeling we would become closer throughout this time.

The next day, Laticia informed me that I had visitors. I made my way to the visitor's room and saw Asher and Quinn. I walked towards them, then pulled Quinn to me, kissing her.

"Oh, I see how it is. I detox your stupid ass, and Quinn reaps the benefits," Asher grumbled.

I broke from our kiss and gave Asher a look, then rolled my eyes. We walked over to some chairs and sat down.

"You look good. It seems you're getting a little pudge on you," Asher mentioned, tapping my stomach.

"Better than skin and bones," I retorted.

"Yeah, true. Now, it will take me ten minutes to knock you on your ass I stead of five," Asher replied.

"Are you slowing down in your old age?" I questioned.

"You wish and no," Asher responded.

"This reminds me of the beach house," Quinn mentioned.

"Fun times," Asher remarked.
