When I woke up the next morning, the room was still dark even with the curtains and blinds open, I heard a smoothing sound coming from outside, I gave a big stretch.
"Good Morning Annie! And happy 4 weeks today! I can't believe you're four weeks old already!" She says as she smiles at me and lifts me out of the crib, she holds me up in the air
"You're my big baby girl!"
She says as she brings me back down to kiss my cheek then laid me down on her bed, once again as the routine goes, she dressed me for the day, nappy change and all that fun stuff. Once dressed she brought me to the window,
"Look Annie, that's called rain, it's wet but makes a smoothing sound when it hits the windows, I don't like it one bit. It's a dull day today, on your 4 week birthday" she sighed sadly then turned round and left our bedroom, she walked downstairs and laid me in my baby stand while she made our breakfast, she ate her cereal first then gave me my bottle. After we ate, she fed the dogs and cats, after they were done, she put on a rain coat and ran out to the car to fetch my car seat, she ran back in, and then bucked me in the car seat, and put this plastic waterproof cover on my car seat, i hated it so I started to wail, I kicked out with my legs and arms,
"Shhh it's okay, it's to protect you from the rain so you don't get wet, Mum walked out again and speed walked to the car, on the way to the car I noticed water falling ontop of the waterproof cover and I stared at it.
"See? You're not getting wet because of the cover, I'm soaked!" Mum said as she opened the car and placed my car seat in, made sure it was fitted then fetched the dogs and got them into the boot, lastly she got in herself and gave a loud sigh
"Ugh that's horrible". When we arrived at doggie day care I waved goodbye as Mum dropped off Lisa and Rex at Doggie Day Care, next it was Baby Day Care for me, "hello Emma" Mum said as she walked into the 0-6 month area
"Hi Cathy and Annie! How are you two doing?"
"We're fine thanks, how are you?"
Mum replied as she looked on the mat, there was Poppy, Sophie, Tracey, Danielle and Rose all on the mat.
"I'm alright, the dull weather dampens the mood though" Emma replies
"Yeah I agree, it's horrible, it's Annie's first rain and she doesn't like it so far" Mum says
"Oh no, good thing we're planning to stay indoors today and just play some games" Emma tells us
"Ah sounds fun, today's a special day for Annie" mum says
"Oh how come?" Emma asks
"Because she turns 4 weeks old today!"
"Ohh! Happy 4 weeks today Annie!" Emma says as she takes me from my car seat, and gives me a cuddle I smile at her and wave my arms around.
"I better go to work now, I'm not looking forward to it because of the rain" mum says
"Okay, bye Cathy" Emma turns to me "say bye bye to your Mummy" she lifts my arm and waves my hand, we watch her leave, then Emma lays me down on the mat, and gives me a toy to play with, I notice the other babies had a toy each too, we play for a wee while, Emma watching us and joining when she could.
We hear someone walking towards our 0-6 month area, and we all look up to see who's arriving, Emma gets up to go greet them, when they walk in we see it's Paige and her mum, I kick out excitedly & coo to Paige.
"Why's that baby coping and getting all happy?" Paige's Mum asks Emma referring to me,
"Because Paige is here, Annie loves Paige" Emma explains
"Well Paige doesn't like her" Paige's mum rudely says.
Luckily I'm too young to understand what was said so my feelings weren't hurt. When Paige spots me she gets excited and kicks around in her mum's arms, Emma takes Paige and lays her next to me, Paige and I smile at each other giggling, Paige's mum has a look of disbelief on her face as she watches us then turns on her heel and leaves the building.
"Geez" Emma mutters to herself as Darcey walks in
"I'm excited for today!" Darcey says and I start to wail at her volume of voice
"Oops i forgot to turn down my voice!" Darcey comes over to pick me up and attempts to calm me down but I wail louder because Darcey is the reason that I'm upset,
"Here I'll take her" Emma says as she takes me from her arms and walks around the room, patting my back, "there there" she chants.
Paige then starts wailing because I have been taken away from her,
"Oh no!" Darcey says, she picks her up and tries to comfort her, Paige is still wailing but Is looking for me, Darcey notices so brings her over to me and she stops, "she was wanting Annie" Emma says with a smile "so sweet!" but while Paige was crying, Tracey had started to wail because two babies crying was too much for her, so now there was three crying babies.
"Oh geez not a good start to the day!" She says,
"Darcey, put Paige on the mat"
Darcey and Emma walk over to the mat, Darcey lays her down and Emma stands where Paige can see me, Emma then sways her body,
"Okay now you can try comfort Tracey please" Emma instructs
Soon I had completely stopped crying so Emma laid me down on the mat next to Paige, when Tracey realised we had stopped wailing, she stopped crying, the room became quiet again apart from the noise from the toys that the babies were playing with.
"Ah that's better" Emma says as Darcey lays Tracey down on the mat the rest of the day was spent playing together, drinking our bottles and napping. Soon it was home time I was playing with Paige when her mum walked in, she scanned the mat looking for Paige, walked over and picked her up. I started to wail because Paige was leaving AND I didn't get to say goodbye,
"Paige cried for Annie today" Emma says to Paige's mum, "I had to keep Annie in Paige's sight, and it looks like Annie is now crying for Paige, I believe Annie didn't get to say goodbye to her so I'd better let them say goodbye" Emma says as she goes to take Paige from her mum
"No" her mum says and swaps Paige to her other arm,
"Please? They're good friends and it won't take a minute" Emma tries to pled Paige's mum but she wasn't having any of it.
"I said no" and with that she turned round on her heels and walked off with a wailing Paige in her arms,
We heard Paige's cries get fainter and fainter the further away she got, I cried louder when Paige left.
"I'm sorry Annie" Emma says as she picks me up, "you'll see her tomorrow though!" She says as a attempt to cheer me up but I just keep crying and crying, Emma starts struggling too calm me down that she doesn't let Darcey try because she knows it'll be harder for Darcey to calm me down than it is for Emma, so Darcey is left to tend to the other babies while Emma tries to comfort me.
"Hush hush Annie, Paige will be here tomorrow and you can spend all day with her, you can give her a big hello greeting tomorrow" Emma says, after a while my Mum walks in to pick me up, Emma spots her so walks over to her
"Hi Cathy, Annie is really upset this afternoon and I'm struggling to calm her down, I've never seen her cry this much" Emma says as she passes me to Mum
"Same here, what happened?" Mum asks as she takes her wet coat off and takes me from Emma, she bounces me in her arm and talks smoothly to me while Emma explains to Mum what happened.
"Annie and Paige are starting to be inseparable, they cry for each other when one leaves, well today Annie & Paige didn't get to say goodbye to each other because Angelina Paige's mum took Paige away, I tried to get Angelina to let me let Annie and Paige say goodbye to each other but Angelina wasn't having any of it and left with Paige, who was also crying. I've been trying to calm Annie down since they left."
"Oh that's not nice, I don't like the sound of Angelina" Mum says. By this time I had calmed down a little, my cries were getting a little softer,
"Yeah, I feel bad, but anyways on the bright side, here are some photos from yesterday" Emma says as she hands over a wad of photos"
"Thank you!" Mum says happily
"I better go home now" Mum says as she buckles me into my car seat, covers my car seat with the waterproof plastic cover thing, puts her coat back on and puts the wad of photos in her handbag, she picks up my car seat, smiles at Emma
"Thank you for looking after Annie today, have a nice evening, bye!"
"Bye!" Mum and Emma wave at each other, then Mum walks out of the building into the pouring rain, she puts my car seat in the car makes sure it's all safe then gets in the drivers seat herself and drives out of the Baby Day Care parking lot, she turns on some calm music, we listen to that on the way to pick up Lisa and Rex, once arrived, Mum jumps out to run and fetch the dogs, they come running to the car and the boot opens for them, they jump in, their tails wagging, Mum catches up and closes the boot then gets back in the car.
"Good boy Rex, good girl Lisa" she calls back to the dogs, once she got her seat belt on, she started the engine and drove off towards home, finally we made it back home. Same as this morning, Mum took out the car seat, let the dogs out of the boot then jogged to the front door and unlocked it, we walked inside out of the rain, Mum set the car seat down, locked the front door, stripped herself down to her under wear, her clothes were soaked! She then bent down to me, she took off the waterproof car seat cover, unbuckled me and lifted me out of the car seat, by now I had almost stopped crying, I was just sniffing now, Mum put me on my rocker, Lisa came over and licked my hand, after a few licks, I cracked a smile, then a giggle, then I burst out laughing, belly laughing. Mum smiled
"Good girl Lisa, thank you for cheering Annie up!"
I played with Lisa, while Mum sorted her wet work clothes and checked on the animals, she then made dinner for herself and made my bottle, she sat in the living room using the lap tray and ate her dinner while watching us all, (cats, dogs and myself) when she finished her plate, she put the dishes away and brought my milk back with her, she lifted me out of my rocker, sat on the couch with me in her arms and fed me my bottle, I drank hungrily. After my bottle, she lay me on a play mat and played with me for a while, then she sat on the couch again because I was showing no interest in playing with my mum anymore, after a while of me playing on my own Mum got up and went to make me another bottle, once made, she picked me up and carried me upstairs to our bedroom, she lay me down in my crib, handed me my bottle, I didn't drink much because I fell asleep, I was very tired since I had not taken a nap today.
