Chapter 38

I wake up with a heavy weight on my arm, I open my eyes to see Marmalade laying over my arm, i smile and use my other hand to pet her, I manage to roll onto my side and put my leg over her so I was spooning Marmalade and fell asleep again.
I woke up again later by a photo being taken I look up and see Mum taking a photo of Marmalade and I cuddling, I roll back onto my back and kick around with my legs smiling up at Mum, she gently pushes Marmalade off my arm then lifts me up and lays me on the bed, she's already dressed in joggers and short sleeved top, she changes my nappy and then puts some clothes on me, after that we head downstairs and I get put into the bouncer, Mum feeds all the animals, then heads outside and feeds the horses, lastly she comes back inside and gets breakfast for herself and I. After breakfast Mum carries me upstairs and settles me on her bed, I lay there watching her as she goes about getting ready, she takes a shower then after that she puts on a nice sparkly dark blue dress, a baby blue cardigan and black shoes, she wears her lovely blonde hair down and does up her makeup, she puts on some gold earrings and a gold necklace, she turns to me and smiles,
"How do I look!?" She asks as she looks at herself in the mirror, i clap my hands and smile, beautiful I thought to myself.
"Thank you Annie! I'm going on a date today."
She picks me up and plants a kiss on my cheek then rubs it off,
"Oh Mummy's got lipstick on your face!" She says as she heads downstairs and lays me in the bouncer, she takes a few selfies then gets everything together, a bag for me, with my stuff in it, a bag for the dogs and makes sure she has everything she needs In her handbag, then she puts my coat on and her coat on then picks me up and walks out of the house, she lets the dogs out and locks the door, then she puts me in my car seat strapping me in, she opens the boot and the dogs jump in then she gets in the drivers side and puts her seatbelt on then pulls out of the drive way and starts driving, after a while we arrive at Grandad's and Nanna's house, Mum gets out of the car and let's the dogs out, they bark and run around excitedly, she gets me out of the car seat and gets the bags then she walks up to the front door and rings the bell, Nanna opens the door with a big smile,
"Hello my dearies! Come in come in!"
"Hey Mum!" Mum says as the dogs run in happily, Mum follows them inside with me in her arms.
"How are you?" Nanna asks
"I'm good, nervous for my date later! And you?"
"I'm good. You'll be fine on your date and Lisa, Rex and Annie will be fine here."
They both sit down and chat together, Mum gives me to Nanna who cuddles me then sits me on her lap, the dogs are busy sniffing around, soon Grandad walks into the lounge carrying a tray with three cup of teas and a few biscuits.
"Hey Dad!" Mum says
"Hi Cathy how you doing?"
"I'm okay thanks, how's you?"
"I'm good, here's your cup of tea" he says as he hands her her mug, he leaves the plate of biscuits on the coffee table and sits down next to Nanna.
"You're looking very beautiful Cathy! Who's this lucky guy you're meeting?"
"Thank you, his name is Nathan"
"Ohhh have fun! What time are you meeting him?"
"Around 1pm"
"Okay, we have time for lunch then, shall we just have soup and bread?"
Mum nods so Nanna heads into the kitchen, Grandad and Mum chat away while I watch them, not long after, Nanna comes back in with lunch and they all tuck in, then Grandad gets up to put the dishes away as Mum fumbles around in my bag,
"It's time for Annie's bottle and afternoon nap." Mum says as she picks me up and gives me my bottle, I suckle on the nipple, once I start getting sleepy, Mum and Nanna head upstairs carrying me, Mum lays me in the middle of the spare bed and both Nanna and Mum stack pillows around me to build a barrier so that I wouldn't fall off the bed, I slowly fall asleep, I feel Mum kiss my forehead just as I fell into deep sleep.
I woke up after my nap stretching and yawning, I look around at the room, this wasn't my familiar room, I lay there for a few minutes, I was ready to get up but no one was coming so I started to babble to myself, after a few minutes I hear Lisa whining at the bedroom door, I squeal excitedly hearing Lisa, then I hear her trotting away, few minutes later I hear Nanna's voice downstairs
"Hi Lisa what do you want?" She asked "Annie's sleeping upstairs yes"
I hear Lisa whine louder
"You want to go up and see her?" Then I hear Lisa running upstairs and Nanna's footsteps, Nanna opens the door and Lisa runs in looks at me then back at Nanna wagging her tail, I smile at Lisa and Nanna waving my arms around and kicking my legs,
"Oh you're awake now Annie! How long were you waiting?" She walks over and turns to Lisa, "thank you Lisa! Good girl!" She fusses Lisa then picks me up and gives me a cuddle, plants a kiss on my cheek then pushes the pillows to the side and lays me back down on the bed, she changes my nappy, once that was done she carefully carried me downstairs, Lisa ahead of us, Grandad comes through to see what's going on
"Oh good morning Annie! Did you have a good nap?" He asks and I smile at him, then I reach out for him so he takes me from Nanna's arms, she heads into the kitchen while Grandad goes to sit down in the lounge, I hear a tin being opened in the kitchen both Lisa and Rex run into the kitchen rails wagging.
"Here's a treat for you!" I hear Nanna say then a door being opened, "go toilet, go peepee, go poopoo" Nanna says to the dogs, Grandad distracts me with a toy and we play for a while. I get distracted once again when Lisa, Rex and Nanna come back into the lounge, we all play together for a while,
"Shall we go for a walk? Before dinner?" Nanna asks and Grandad nods so Nanna gets up to go and fetch a pram that they apparently had, while Grandad puts my coat on and the dogs leads on, then Grandad carries me through to the front door where Nanna has set up the pram and is putting her coat on, Grandad lays me in the pram and straps me in then puts his coat on.
"Do you want to push Annie and take Lisa?" Nanna asks
Grandad replies by picking up Lisa's lead and taking the handles of my pram then opens the door and pushes me out, Nanna then takes Rex's lead and sets the house alarm, she locks the door and catches up with us, they walk by side by side, I watch Lisa and Rex walking at the side of my pram.
We head down some streets and arrive at some woods, we walk through and let the dogs off lead, they run around happily checking in with the grandparents, i glance at the view around me as Grandad pushes my pram along the path, we follow the path round the woods, about half way round Grandad and Nanna sit on a beach for a rest. While sitting down, Grandad gets the ball and ball launder from the bag and plays fetch with the dogs for a while, after a game of fetch we then head off again, eventually we reach where we started, the dogs were called back and put on lead, and we headed back to the house.
Once we were back, Grandad takes the dogs round the back and lets them off the lead in the garden while Nanna takes me in by the front door, she takes me out of the pram and then takes my coat off and gets me settled on the floor in the lounge, then she heads outside in the garden and helps Grandad to give the dog's legs a wash as they were muddy, once done they come running in and get a big drink of water, Nanna comes through and sits with me while Grandad makes a cup of tea for them both, once made they sit down and drink their teas, Nanna playing with me, Grandad reading the news papers and the dogs lying down panting hard.
About an hour later Grandad and the two dogs had fallen asleep, Nanna checked the time and then stood up and headed into the kitchen,
"I'm going to start on dinner for Grandad and Nanna then I'll get your bottle and feed the dogs." Nanna tells me as she starts on dinner, I play by myself.
Soon enough dinner was done i watched as Nanna serves the table once done she wakes Grandad up lovingly by kissing his cheek as she talks to him
"Wakey wakey love, it's time for dinner darling."
Grandad grunts as he wakes up, he gets up and heads over to the table as Nanna moves me closer to the table so I can see them, I watch them as they chat and eat, they smile and laugh together.
After dinner Grandad gets up to clear up and clean, while Nanna feeds the dogs then grabs my bottle and picks me up sitting on the sofa, she positions me in her arm then gives me my bottle, I drink hungrily, once I finished my bottle, I get laid on the sofa with the telly on and I chill watching it, Lisa curls up near me and goes to sleep, Rex sprawls out on the floor and falls asleep too, Nanna helps Grandad in the kitchen, after a while they come through and sit down watching telly, sighing after doing the work, before we know it the door bell goes, Nanna gets up to go answer it.
"Hello!" I hear Mum's voice, I squeal excitedly and kick around, the dogs jump up and run to her,
"Hello Lisa! Hello Rex!" Mum says happily as she comes in, she takes off her coat and shoes then comes through to the living room and smiles at me
"Hi Annie!" She lifts me up kissing me on my cheek "did you have fun?" I nod and babble
"She was so good!" Nanna says as Grandad heads off to make the adults a cup of tea, she and Mum sit down to chat,
"Annie had a two hour nap! I didn't know when she woke up! She doesn't cry or anything" Nanna says
"No I know, she's very quiet. What happened?"
Well Lisa had to alert me! She was laying outside the spare bedroom door and came downstairs and nudged me, I thought she wanted the toilet but she went upstairs and looked back at me so I followed her and she led me to the spare room so I checked on Annie and she was awake!"
"Oh good girl Lisa!"
Grandad comes back in with three cup of teas and they all chat over them, Mum tells them about her date with Nathan.
After about an hour chatting over cup of tea, Mum gets up
"Well we should be heading off! It's time for Annie's bedtime I think! Thank you so much for looking after her!"
"Anytime!"
Mum puts my coat and shoes on then puts hers on as well while Nanna and Grandad say goodbye to me, planting kisses on my cheeks then they hand me to Mum and give her a hug then we head out the door waving goodbye, Mum straps me into my car seat I blink sleepily,
"Aw are you tired?" She asks, I watch her as she closes the door and opens the boot for the dogs, once everything was in the car she gets into the drivers seat and drives home, I start to doze off, but I'm brought back to earth by Mum opening my door as she starts to unstrap me, I see the dogs running around sniffing, Mum lifts me out of the car seat and locks the car then she walks to the barn and puts me in the play pen there, I lay there watching as Mum quickly sorts the horses out, feeding them, and bringing them in, once that was done she takes me out of the play pen and carries me to the house, we enter and the cats are at the door greeting us,
"Hello Marmalade and Tom! Hang on a minute, Lisa! Rex! Come on in" Mum says then shuts the door and locks up, she then heads upstairs, she lays me on the bed and starts taking my clothes off,
"I was going to give you a bath tonight but that will have to wait til tomorrow because you are so tired!" She says
So she changes my nappy, puts my pjs on and then finally lays me in my crib for bed, "good night Annie, I'll see you in the morning and I love you!"
I grab Bella and fall asleep.
