WINKING LEON OMG THANKS. Also your welcome for the video
You ran until you were back on the path just outside of Stow-on-Side. Tears streamed down your cheeks. You kept running until it felt as though your lungs were on fire. You slowed down and panted, vision blurry from your tears.
You couldn't believe you let yourself get caught up in somebody's lie. Leon lied to you about his relationship with Diantha, and led you to believe you were close. You mentally slapped yourself for letting yourself become so vulnerable around Leon.
You tensed up as your phone buzzed in your pocket. While running, you had received five missed calls from Leon, along with texts asking for you to come back because he wasn't finished talking to you. Hop also texted you a few times, asking if you were okay and where you went. You ignored both of them, wishing to be alone during this point in time.
You found a tree and sat against it, sniffling. You set your phone on the ground and placed your knees close to your face. You closed your eyes.
After sitting like that for awhile, you heard soft footsteps approaching you. You opened your eyes and looked over to the source of the sound, only to lock eyes with a small Pokemon. It was a Morpeko. It sniffed at you with curiosity. Behind the Morpeko was louder footsteps. You froze and locked eyes with Marnie.
"M-Marnie?!" you stuttered. It has been a long time since you had last seen her.
"(y/n)? What are you doing here?" Marnie asked, though her voice was soft. She had noticed you were crying. "Are you alright?"
She approached you slowly and sat next to you, crossing her legs. Her Morpeko crawled onto her lap. You sighed. "I really don't know."
"What's wrong?" Marnie's eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"I don't want to talk about it right now," you replied, looking up at the sky. "For now, all I'm going to say is that I trusted someone a little too much."
From the corner of your eye, you saw Marnie nod slowly. "I know how that feels. Those who deceive make this world much harder to live in."
"Yeah..." you trailed off. You sank down onto your back and looked up at the clouds.
"Look, whoever lied to you clearly isn't worth it," Marnie stated. "You're a hard worker and a good person, don't let some liar destroy you."
"What if the person who lied to me was the Champion of Galar?" you questioned.
Marnie's eyes widened. "LEON is the reason you're hurt right now?"
You remained silent, which was enough for Marnie to know the answer.
"I never would've thought he'd treat you like this," Marnie admitted. "But, even if he is the Champion, you're way better than he'll ever be. It seems that his ego got to his head. Airheads can't stay champions."
You laughed lightly, feeling better. "Do you want to know the full story?"
Marnie nodded.
"Well, you know about Leon and Diantha's 'relationship', right?" you asked.
"Yeah, it's a little too sappy for me, though," Marnie replied, shrugging.
"It turns out that they're not actually together," you continued. Marnie gasped. "From the beginning, Leon had me convinced that they were together and happy. Even when we became friends, he never told me the truth. I found out from his BROTHER!"
Marnie groaned. "I don't understand, why do they have a fake relationship in the first place?"
"According to him, it's because they both get more publicity," you huffed.
