Since some of you might be concerned, yes, the romance is starting soon. It's good to slowly work into it, but you won't be disappointed!

Once Leon was done with his interview, he went into town with you. You both came across a quaint, little cafe you could hang out and catch up in. You took a seat at one of the tables and ordered water so you could stay.

"So, how's Diantha doing?" you asked.

Leon didn't really have a reaction about you bringing up Diantha. "Oh, she's fine, she's heading to the city of the next Gym Challenge Battle."

"Oh really? What's she going for?" you asked.

"She wants to experience how the Galar league works," Leon replied. "Say, are you working up to challenge me?"

"I mean, I wouldn't join the Gym Challenge if I wasn't going to try," you shrugged. "Nothing against you, I just want to become the best."

Leon smirked, clearly enjoying the thought of a challenge.

"Just to remind you, I haven't lost a single battle my entire career of over a decade," Leon reminded you.

"I'm about to end your whole career."

Leon laughed, but you knew he was taking your threat seriously. However, he wasn't being salty about it, but embracing the thought of a new obstacle in his journey of keeping his title.

"But anyway, since you're the champion, do you have any other goals?" you asked.

"I've considered challenging other Champions to see who is the best of us," Leon admitted. "I'm thinking about challenging Diantha, but I want to learn more about Mega Evolution first."

"I have a proposition for you," you said. "When my Electrike evolves, I'll teach you about Mega Evolution, but you have to teach me about Dynamaxing."

"That's a great deal!" exclaimed Leon. "I'll have to take you up on that soon."

Leon stuck out his hand for you to shake. You hesitated for a moment before grasping his hand and shaking it. You noticed how your hand looked tiny compared to his. You lingered while holding his hand for probably too long. Once you both noticed this, you pulled your hand away quickly.

Leon's face was dusted in pink, but he quickly covered it up by hiding his face in his cape and clearing his throat. You couldn't help but think about how adorable this action was.

"So, how do you feel now that you have your first badge?" Leon asked.

"It feels great!" you grinned widely. "That was my first ever gym battle, and I'm certainly not disappointed."

"What's your next step?" Leon asked. He propped his elbow on the table and put his hand on his cheek.

"I'm thinking of going to the next city to challenge the next Gym Leader," you replied. You sighed. "Unfortunately, Turffield doesn't have a place I can stay, so I'm going to have to camp on the next route."

"I'd try to help you there and give you a ride on Charizard, but he's exhausted," Leon huffed. "Raihan challenged me to another battle today."

"Isn't he the most challenging Gym Leader?" you asked.

You recalled his stunning, icy blue eyes and how they took your breath away. You shook yourself out of your trance. Raihan really was something if just the thought of him is enough to stun you. Leon, fortunately, didn't notice your little hiccup.

"Yes, and he's my rival as well," Leon said. "Since Galar doesn't have an Elite Four, the loser out of us two took their place in the highest Gym. Back when I was doing the Gym Challenge, Raihan came the closest to defeating me. I remember the League semi-finals. We were down to our last Pokemon and I barely managed to get by and challenge the champion during that time."
