Originally, you had planned on going out with Piers to get to know him better. But, he had different plans. Instead of going out into the world, Piers requested if you both just stay in at your house. He explained that he isn't a social person and would rather stay in than go out.
You were slightly disappointed, though you didn't let him know that. You like getting out of the house. But you were fine as long as you got to hangout with someone.
Today, for the first time in ages, you finally felt happy. You felt as though everything weighing you down was gone. Leon may return your feelings after this battle of trying to understand him. Yes, there will be more issues if it comes out that he feels the same about you as you do him, but it was a risk you were willing to take.
If it's meant to be, an opportunity will arise for you to try and make it a reality.
However, you wanted to spend time with someone. Your father was currently out exploring Galar for himself. He only moved here a couple months before you did.
A knock on the door interrupted your thoughts. Piers. He arrived right on time.
"Come in!" you called.
You were currently sprawled out on the couch in your living room. Piers walked in, his face as downcast as normal.
"Thank you for inviting me," Piers said kindly and took a seat on a chair nearby, leaving you to lay in peace.
"No problem, I'm incredibly bored," you replied. "After having so much excitement for weeks with the Gym Challenge and people, it's a drastic change to be at home with nothing to do."
"Now you know how I feel when it isn't my week in the Gym Challenge," Piers replied. "I may seem like I hate being the Gym Leader, but sometimes a good gym battle can be fun."
"You? Having fun?" you chuckled at the thought.
Piers rolled his eyes. "Just because I'm the face of punk doesn't mean I don't like some fun."
"Good point," you shrugged.
You both fell silent for a moment before Piers spoke up. "How about we ask some questions to get to know each other?"
You nodded in agreement. "I'll start. What Pokemon do you specialize in for your Gym?"
"Dark type Pokemon," Piers replied. "Don't think about cheatin' and change your whole team for one gym and abandon the team you created."
You laughed. "I would never!" Piers scoffed.
"What Pokemon do you have on your team?" Piers asked.
"Now you're just trying to prepare for when I challenge you," you challenged.
"No, just giving you a taste of your own medicine," replied Piers.
"Fine, I have mostly Electric-type Pokemon aside from one Dark-type," you explained.
"Looks like you have a line-up to become a Gym-leader," Piers commented.
"Well, I'm looking for something more than that," you replied.
"Like the Champion?" Piers asked. "Or if we had one, a member of the Elite Four?"
"Why doesn't Galar have an Elite Four?" you asked. "That's not a question for this game, just a question in general."
"I dunno if I'm being honest," Piers stretched out and sat lazily in the chair. "Galar used to have an Elite Four but twenty years ago adopted a new system where Gym Challengers would battle until the best fights the Champion."
"That's cool, I guess," though you didn't really think that was cool. Every other region had an Elite Four and it was the true test if a trainer should have the chance to become the Champion, instead of there being a chance of pure luck.
"Maybe they will bring back the Elite Four in the future," Piers sighed. "Sure would excite Raihan."
"And you too, as you're at least the third-best trainer in the region," you said. "Though I bet you could be first if you wanted."
Piers had a ghost of a smile on his face. "Stop flirting."
You blushed brightly, flustered. "I'm not flirting at all! What do you mean?! You know I like Leon!"
"I know, I just wanted to see how you react if I said that," shrugged Piers.
Sometimes you just wanted to punch him. He was a good person to vent to, though.
Another knock on the door sounded, confusing you. You weren't expecting any other company, so who could that be? Piers looked equally as confused.
"Were you expecting anyone else?" Piers questioned.
"No, I guess I just have a surprise visitor," you shrugged.
You really hoped it wouldn't be Marnie as it would be awkward since her brother was in your house, sitting in the living room. It definitely wasn't Leon after your conversation yesterday. He made it sound like he needed space for awhile. Maybe it was Hop as he always hung out with you. Thinking that was the logical explanation, you opened the door.
"Hello, (y/n)."
It definitely was Leon.
Your heart practically stopped as you locked eyes with his amazing golden eyes. He looked slightly nervous and his cheeks were slightly pink.
"I did some thinking and I think I should talk to you," Leon said.
"Oh?" you replied, looking over your shoulder to Piers, who was now standing at full attention with a stunned expression.
Leon followed your gaze and froze as he saw Piers.
"Am I... Am I interrupting something?" Leon asked, disappointment clear in his voice.
"No, not at all," you replied quickly. "It's not like that."
Leon looked relieved for a second but he definitely was still bothered by something.
"Can I talk to you alone?" Leon asked.
Piers nodded to you. "It was about time I got home. Marnie's probably wondering where I went off to."
With that, Piers left. Leaving you alone with Leon.
933 words. Yes, shorter chapter. But this is a filler chapter and will lead into a bigger part of the story.
