The next day, you and Leon quickly packed up everything from your campsite and prepared to finish your journey to Ballonlea. You were excited to see this town after seeing this amazing forest, as you've heard that the town was much more beautiful.
"Leon, not going to lie, I'm kind of nervous," you said.
Leon held your hand. "Why? You're a strong and talented challenger."
"I haven't lost a Gym battle yet like most trainers have, so I feel like it'll only be a matter of time," you explained. "Plus, I haven't battled in half a month."
"That's nothing to be worried about," Leon replied. "You're not like most trainers. And so what if you lose? You can always rechallenge!"
"Yes, but I want to beat you one day, yet I haven't been unbeatable," you sighed.
Leon smirked. "You still have a chance. I won't make it any easier because I like you!"
You playfully rolled your eyes. "You're supposed to make battles against your girlfriend easy!"
Leon laughed for a second and then frowned. "I know we talked about this, but we can't be official yet. As much as I wish we could, we have to wait for this stupid contract to end."
You frowned sadly and looked down at the ground. "I was just messing around..."
Leon gave you a small smile. "Hey, after the next couple phases of the Gym Challenge and the contract will be over! Then we can be official!"
"I can't wait," you said, wrapping your arms around Leon's neck and hugging him.
It felt as though you both were restrained because of this contract. If it came out that the two of you had feelings for each other, Leon's career could be hurt as he gets marked as a cheater. The public doesn't know that Leon and Diantha's relationship is fake, after all.
You walked together through the forest, holding hands. It didn't take long before you found the town. You and Leon had to stop holding hands now that there were people in the area, much to your disappointment.
You and Leon chatted about strategies against Fairy-type teams as you approached the Gym. There were people outside, but not nearly as many as Motostoke or Stow-on-Side. They cheered as they saw Champion Leon and you.
Many rushed to get pictures and autographs from Leon. You smiled at him, silently telling him that you were going inside.
The doors opened to the Gym and the place was covered with pastel pink and blue. You looked around, stunned at the bright colors.
You almost didn't notice Marnie approach you. As you saw her, you hoped she wouldn't know that you and Piers had been hanging out.
"Are all the bright colors surprising?" Marnie asked. "I was taken aback when I first walked in."
"Yeah, I never expected it to be so bright!" you exclaimed.
Internally, you were relieved as it seemed that Marnie didn't know of your blossoming friendship with her older brother.
"Agreed, I like neon or dark colors," Marnie replied. "I can't believe you already got four badges! Looks like you're becoming someone Morpeko and I have to worry about."
"You bet! I'm coming for you guys at the Champion Cup," you gloated.
"I guess I'll have to think of you as my rival now," Marnie stated. "There aren't too many Gym Challengers left, y'know."
"I know that you, me, and Hop have a competition with each other going on," you said.
"I'll have to beat him sometime," Marnie said. "See you at the next town."
