It was Saturday night and Ava was working out in her room when her phone rang. She took it from the nightstand to find a message from an unexpected person.

“What now?” she immediately turned the screen off and put it down after who it was from.

A week had gone by since she last saw that lying cheater’s face. Ava never wanted to see him again, she didn’t even want to hear about him.

In her mind, he was a nightmare she was desperate to wake up from. Three years had been enough!

Avoiding the phone like it was poison, Ava went back to work out in front of the mirror in her bedroom’s wall. Keeping her body in shape was her new favorite hobby, not to mention that a nice workout before bed helped her sleep soundly.

She was concentrating on her exercises, but curiosity was getting the better of her. She caught herself occasionally glancing at her nightstand, where her phone blinked away.

“What the hell does he want with me now, hasn’t he done enough?” she wondered.

Her curiosity didn’t make sense to her, but it was there nonetheless. Ava sighed, trying to fight the impulse to read the message.

Once her body started to hurt and she couldn’t take it anymore, she took off her clothes and prepared a warm bath to relax.

It was in the bath, while running her hands through her body, she realized why she was curious about the text. She was still wondering if it was all about sex for him, if she was just sex object for him since she never told him no.

“I was so weak when it came to him…” she thought, feeling haunted by the now unpleasant memories that were once of her fairy tale.

Ava got out of the bath, intent on reading the message and doing so, facing the reality and getting the answers she deserved. She already had come to terms with the fact that he didn’t care about her feelings, but that wasn’t enough, she wanted to know everything.

She hated it, but this was how she truly felt.

“I gotta be honest with myself,” she said to herself picking up the phone. She wouldn’t make the same mistakes again. Ava had decided to be brave, and so she was.

Julien had sent her a link to a song.

A song?” she was not surprised, quite the opposite. This was another attempt to manipulate her, and it became even more obvious when she clicked on the link. “A sad romantic song… what a…”, she covered her mouth to avoid cursing.

His intention of making an impact worked, but in a bad way. She turned the screen off again. Now, she was furious.

Annoyed, Ava put on another set of workout clothes and went for a run to clear her mind and let off some steam.

“Fresh air is what you need, girl. You are not playing his game again! You definitely know better than that!”
